Child Bed Poverty Affects Thousands in the US
Every night thousands of children lie their heads on the floor to sleep because they don’t have a bed.
At Mattress Advisor, our mission is to help people live their best days by getting their best night’s sleep. Unfortunately, having a safe and comfortable place to sleep isn’t a reality for thousands of children living in poverty throughout the U.S.
This year, we are taking action by contributing to Beds for Kids’ Thousand Bed Challenge. The goal of the challenge is to provide 1,000 children in need with beds to sleep on. Many of these children have been living in a completely empty house for an average of 34 days.
Mattress Advisor will be kick starting the challenge by donating 119 new mattresses, fulfilling over 10% of Beds for Kids’ annual challenge goal. On December 11, Mattress Advisor will join the Beds for Kids team in personally delivering mattresses to children in the area who are currently sleeping without one.
If you’d like to participate in the Beds for Kids Thousand Bed Challenge, there are three easy ways to donate and spread the word:
While all contributions are appreciated, a donation of $150 sponsors a child, providing them with a new twin bed set (mattress, box spring, and bed frame).
The impact this contribution will have on a child’s life is profound – and is a simple gift of a basic necessity – a bed to sleep on. Hear from real families how these donations have changed their lives for the better:
“The greatest impact on our family since receiving beds and furniture is that our house now feels like a home.”
“We no longer have to worry about sleeping or eating meals on the floor. My daughter received 3 awards from school after she started sleeping in her own bed.”
“Our family has felt a sense of stability, safety, and overall gratitude after receiving beds and furniture.”
Over the last nine years, Beds for Kids has helped 11,860 children and their families know the comfort of a bed and a furnished home. Help us multiply that impact this year.
