Our Team
Our team consists of parents, schedule jugglers, recovering victims of all-nighters, procrastinators and overachievers…so we know a practical thing or two about the importance of a good night’s sleep. Meet the folks behind the scenes.

Laura Mohammad
A Certified Sleep Science Coach, Laura understands the value of a good night’s sleep after sharing her bed over the years with her husband, their two sons when they were little, and a variety of cats. Every day, Laura dives into the best recommendations for you, whether you are heavy, older, have back pain, or sleep hot. Barry Bridges
Years of erratic newspaper schedules and switching between day and night shifts helped Barry realize that sleep is more than a function of the human nervous system—it’s a precious commodity. He is a restless side sleeper with a history of lower back issues and one rather large cat. Nicole has spent much of her life pursuing health and wellness for herself and those around her. You will find Nicole reading study after study and following countless wellness experts as a way to acquire abundant knowledge that she can share with her readers. Amanda Lasater
As a retired college athlete, Amanda discovered the importance of sleep and wellness in sports and everyday performance. Since graduating, she has taken this passion for overall health and made it her career, providing insights and giving consumers a firsthand look at how important a good night’s rest is for the body. In her free time, Amanda enjoys practicing yoga, trying out different recipes that she finds on Pinterest and doing whatever she can to be outdoors in the sun.

Nadia Klammer
Nadia is on the customer experience team at Mattress Advisor. She is a passionate sleeper who prides herself on being able to fall asleep almost anywhere. Nadia even experimented with polyphasic sleep in college. When she’s not sleeping or working on our website, Nadia enjoys rock climbing and playing with her dog, Daisy.

Dr. Elma Baron, MD
Dr. Elma Baron, M.D. received her doctorate in Dermatology from the University of the Philippines, College of Medicine. She joined University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center in 2003 and is now Director of Photomedicine and the Core and Skin Study Center at the school. She is also a Professor of Dermatology at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine. In 2013, she led a research project commissioned by Estée Lauder on the connection between sleep deprivation and skin aging.

Dr. Scott Bautch, D.C., DACBOH, CCST, CCSP (American Chiropractic Association)
Dr. Scott Bautch is past chairman of the Board and past CEO for Allied Health Chiropractic Centers, a Wisconsin-based chiropractic corporation comprised of more than 50 individual clinics. Dr. Bautch is president of the American Chiropractic Association’s Council on Occupational Health. He has also served as a board member for the International Academy of Chiropractic Occupational Health Consultants and is a past chairman of the Wisconsin Council on Occupational Health. Dr. Bautch completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1980 and graduated from the Logan College of Chiropractic in 1983. He is certified by the American Chiropractic Board of Occupational Health, maintains certification in Chiropractic Spinal Trauma, and is a certified Chiropractic Sports Physician.

Dr. Jon Dominique, D.C., DACO
Dr. Jon Dominique, DC, DACO received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the National University of Health Sciences in 2007. He now owns his own practice, Alpine Chiropractic, and Acupuncture in Hickory, NC. Other achievements include a Diplomate in Chiropractic Orthopedics (DACO), which is a specialized field of chiropractic medicine that provides non-operative alternatives to surgical orthopedic healthcare relative to the treatment of disorders of the human spine and extremities.

Dr. Jennifer Le, DMD, D-ABDSM, CPCC, ACC
Dr. Jennifer Le, DMD, D- ABDSM, CPCC, ACC received her dental degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 2001. She now practices at Wake Dental Sleep in Raleigh, NC. Dr. Le is the Director of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM), an independent board of examiners that was established in 2004 for duly licensed dentists who treat sleep-related breathing disorders with oral appliance therapy, an effective alternative treatment to commonly used CPAP machines. Additionally, Dr. Le is Officer of ABDSM, adjunct faculty at UNC dental school and Chair of Accreditation for the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine (AADSM). We chose to speak to Dr. Le for this campaign given her prestige in the field of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Dr. Laurie Mintz, MD
Dr. Laurie Mintz, author, sex therapist, professor, and speaker has committed her life’s work to helping people live more authentic, meaningful, and joyful lives through the art and science of psychology. As a tenured Professor at the University of Florida, she teaches the Psychology of Human Sexuality to hundreds of undergraduate students each year. She is the author of two sexual self-help books, both based in research findings. Her latest book, “Becoming Cliterate: Why Orgasm Equality Matters – and How to Get It,” is aimed at empowering women to reach orgasm. More pertinent to the connection between sleep and sex, is her first book, “A Tired Woman’s Guide to Passionate Sex,” was written to help the countless women who say they are too exhausted to be interested in sex.

Tracy Owens, MPH, RD, CSSD, LDN
Tracy Owens MPH, RD, CSSD, LDN, founder of Triangle Nutrition Therapy, is a Registered Dietitian that received her Masters of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is one of approximately 750 Board Certified Specialists in Sports Dietetics (CSSD). Tracy is passionate about providing personalized nutrition strategies that help prevent, improve and sometimes reverse many common medical conditions, such as high blood pressure, pre-diabetes, diabetes, heart disease and many more. She also loves working with athletes to provide accurate and beneficial sports nutrition strategies so they can compete at their very best.

Dr. Robert Oexman, D.C.
Dr. Robert Oexman is Director of the Sleep to Live Institute. He oversees the Institute’s research studies, particularly the impact of the sleep environment on quality of sleep. He received his Chiropractic degree and was in private practice for four years before joining Leggett & Platt, Inc. While there, Dr. Oexman developed and managed an ergonomic research center focused on bedding, furniture, and automotive seating. Dr. Oexman has worked on research projects at major universities across the U.S. He also lectures nationally and internationally on the topic of sleep and how the environment impacts sleep. He received his Doctor of Chiropractic from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, and his Master of Business Administration from Missouri State University. Dr. Oexman is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the Missouri State Chiropractic Association. He received his postgraduate training at the Sleep Medicine Center in Stanford, California.

Dr. Kinjal Parikh, D.O.
Dr. Kinjal Parikh, DO, received his Doctorate in Osteopathic Medicine from Nova Southeastern University and completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the University of Texas Southwestern. Dr. Parikh practices at OrthoCarolina in spine and physiatry. OrthoCarolina is one of the nation’s leading practices of orthopedic care located in Charlotte, NC. They specialize in the areas of foot and ankle, hand, hip and knee, shoulder and elbow, spine, sports medicine, and pediatrics.

Dr. Jill Pickens, D.C.
Chiropractic Director of Chiro One Wellness Center of Oak Brook, Dr. Jill Pickens, D.C., sought a career in chiropractic care after years of low-back pain from competitive gymnastics. She received her bachelor’s degree in movement science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and went on to complete her doctorate of chiropractic from Parker University.

Dr. Travis Russell. D.C.
Chiropractic Director of Chiro One Wellness Center of Naperville, Dr. Travis Russell, D.C., holds a bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Illinois, as well as a bachelor’s degree in life science and a doctorate of chiropractic from Logan College of Chiropractic. Dr. Russell firmly believes all people deserve to lead healthier lives and the key to being successful is chiropractic care.
