Compare Each Inside Layer
The biggest difference between the Bear mattresses comes in their inside layers. Let’s explore the effects of these differences.

Inside the Bear Mattress
Three layers of foam surrounded in a Cellient yarn mattress cover is what Bear is made of.
- Mattress Cover: What’s special about Bear’s cover is that Celliant technology take your body’s natural energy and uses it to promote healing and recovery.
- Top Layer: Bear’s first layer specializes in cooling you down. Graphite gel foam takes any extra body heat and pulls it away instead of storing it in the foam and radiating it back to you.
- Transition Layer: This contouring memory foam layer both keeps your spine aligned and removes excess pressure from sensitive areas. Both of these factors work well for people with back pain.
- Support Layer: High-density polyfoam is what makes your mattress lasts and protects against sinkage and dips.

Inside the Bear Pro Mattress
The Bear Pro kicks it up a notch with four layers of memory foam.
- Breathable Cover: This bed is also covered in Celliant yarn, just like the OG mattress.
- Top Layer: Bear Pro’s all-star copper-infused foam does quite a few things: it cools you down, gives you a cleaner sleep due to its antibacterial and antiviral properties, and it’s CertiPUR-US Certified, ensuring there aren’t any harmful chemicals.
- Comfort Layer: You’re familiar with this gel memory foam layers that provides extra contouring and cooling benefits.
- Transition Foam: This layer of responsive transition foam relieves pressure while keeping you balanced across the surface of the mattress.
- Base Layer: The final layer of support foam gives the Bear Pro its longest life possible.

Let’s get into some of the most important factors of each bed.
Edge Support
Edge support allows you to sleep soundly on the edge of the bed without fear of rolling onto the floor. When it comes to edge support, both of these beds do an average job simply because they are made from foam. An innerspinf or hybrid mattress with springs provides more reinforced support around the edges.
Motion Transfer
If you sleep with someone else, human or otherwise, you need a bed with good motion isolation. This means when they toss, turn, and roll, you don’t feel enough movement to wake you up. We’ve found the Bear mattress to be a bit lacking in this category, but are most optimistic when it comes to the Bear Pro and its extra layer of foam.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is what you need to be free of morning aches and pains. This is especially important for active people who will have sore areas. The original Bear mattress does an okay job at pressure relief; the Bear Pro definitely beats out Bear in pressure point relief thanks to the extra foam layer.
Temperature Regulation
Cooling and temperature regulation are important if you sleep super hot. Lucky for you, both Bear mattresses excel at keeping your temperature regulated. The Celliant cover controls any extra body heat and graphite gives you an extra cooling boost. But between the two, Bear Pro wins in the cooling area thanks to that extra copper foam layer.
Which Bear Is the Best Mattress for You?
The Bear mattress works best for back sleepers and stomach sleepers who are looking for an affordable mattress that helps with overnight recovery. The Bear Pro is the mattress for those willing to spend a little more for extra cooling benefits, people with allergies, and those with back pain.
The OG Bear is the firmer mattress; while Bear Pro is more plush. Bear Pro works better for hot sleepers than the Bear mattress. The Bear costs less than the Bear Pro. Each of these factors are pros and cons to some, so the best Bear for you depends on preference.
But make no mistake: no matter which Bear bed you choose, you have 100 nights to recover before nailing down that final decision. Sleep well!
