What They’re Made of (and Why)

The building blocks of these sheets are, naturally, bamboo and cotton. If you’re not familiar with bamboo bedding, it uses fibers extracted from natural bamboo (sometimes called rayon). Cotton you already know is a mainstay of bedding, clothing, and other textile products.

In a bamboo-cotton blend, each material has a part to play:

• Bamboo fibers create a soft, gentle sheen
• Cotton fibers provide breathability, durability and cooling

Of course, there’s a bit of overlap. Rayon also has temperature-regulating properties to promote cooler sleeping, and anyone who’s ever had a favorite cotton T-shirt knows how soft these fibers can be.

There’s also the fact that naturally hypoallergenic materials are a good fit for anyone who has allergies or skin sensitivities.

Other Design Details

These are fitted sheets, so you shouldn’t have to worry about them staying in place through the night. Since they also use a deep-pocket design, they can accommodate mattresses up to 17″ thick. All other Brooklyn Bedding sheets are made to fit mattresses 11″ to 14″ inches thick.

Care and Maintenance

Like other Brooklyn Bedding sheets, the Bamboo Cotton Sheets are machine washable. Brooklyn Bedding recommends washing them at cool or warm temperature and either tumble drying on low or drying them on a line.

Testing Highlights

Here’s where we share some notes from our hands-on experience with Brooklyn Bedding Bamboo Cotton Sheets:

• Softness. As advertised, the sheets have a very soft texture. To return to the T-shirt analogy for a moment, it almost feels like you’re wearing them.
• Cooling. Have you ever slept under sheets that made you feel like you were inside an oven powered by your own body heat? Our experience with these cool sheets was vastly different and much more agreeable.
• Weight. The sheets are lightweight, but they don’t feel thin or fragile. We didn’t feel trapped under them, yet we didn’t worry that shifting positions would rip a seam.

The upshot: Brooklyn Bedding Bamboo Cotton Sheets should provide a positive experience for people who sleep hot and those who prefer a softer feel.
