Pressure relief is a make or break category, depending on your sleeping position. Side sleepers and stomach sleepers need extra pressure relief for their shoulders, ribs, and hips.
The Brooklyn Signature scored three points higher than the GhostBed for pressure relief during our pressure mapping test. The soft mattress is particularly good for side sleepers, while the medium mattress is ideal for stomach sleepers. The medium firmness of the GhostBed is also good for heavier stomach sleepers and back sleepers with any body type.
Spinal alignment – aka good sleeping posture – is important for every sleeper, regardless of age, body type, or sleeping position. The Brooklyn Signature outperformed the GhostBed in this category by 1 point, meaning that it does a better job of keeping your spine in a healthy neutral position.
The GhostBed still scored above average, but side and stomach sleepers will get better back support on the Brooklyn Signature.
Our motion transfer test measures how well a mattress keeps movement isolated near its origin. Both mattresses scored about average in this category, although the GhostBed scored a fraction higher than the Brooklyn Signature. If you are concerned about motion disruptions from pets, kids, or sleeping partners, the GhostBed is a slightly better fit.
We think side sleepers, stomach sleepers, and those with joint pain will sleep more comfortably on the Brooklyn Signature mattress, while back sleepers will prefer either the GhostBed or the Brooklyn Signature firm mattress. Budget conscious shoppers will save a little extra with Brooklyn Bedding.
Both companies provide free bed-in-a-box shipping and a sleep trial to their customers. Brooklyn Bedding gives you 120 nights to trial their mattress in home, and GhostBed customers get 101 nights. You also get free returns, so pick the mattress that aligns with your comfort preferences and budget and then give it a try!
