Compare What’s Inside
Let’s break down what’s inside of these beds and how each layer contributes to the final feel.
The Casper is a 3-layer memory foam mattress. These layers combine for a plush surface paired with give and support in all of the right areas. Its zoned support system is responsible for ample cushion without sacrificing support. It’s one of few mattresses that boasts a sleeping surface that works well for every sleeping position. Side sleepers enjoy the plush give at the shoulders, stomach sleepers the support needed for no sagging at the hips, and back sleepers a balanced feel from head-to-toe.
The Yogabed mattress is a 4-layer memory foam mattress with a medium-firm feel perfect for the average sleeper. The top layer of foam is incredibly plush, with the lower layers adding reliable support that works for back sleepers of every body shape. What stands out is the Yogabed’s ability to limit heat retention, in spite of being a 100% foam bed. Cooling technology is employed throughout the layers of foam for a cool, refreshing night’s sleep.

Inside The Casper Mattress
Let’s take a look at what’s inside.
- Eco-Friendly Cover: Casper’s mattress cover is soft-to-the-touch and made using recycled plastic bottles for a cover you can feel good about.
- Comfort Foam Layer: A plush, perforated foam, Casper’s Airscape foam adds comfort and breathability.
- Zoned Transition Foam: Casper’s second layer is zoned memory foam. The firmer foam supports the body’s core while softer foam allows the shoulders to sink in. The result is incredible contouring that encourages healthy spine alignment in every sleeping position.
- Sturdy Base Foam: A high-density foam base layer boosts edge support and durability.

Inside the Yogabed Mattress
Here’s what you’ll find inside the Yogabed mattress.
- Cooling Cover: A machine-washable cover is easy to clean thanks to a convenient zipper. With cooling fiber, this cover is cool-to-the-touch.
- Instant Response YogaFoam: A high-density foam designed to hug the body closely results in a feeling akin to sleeping “in” rather than “on” the bed’s surface. This proprietary foam incorporates open-cell technology to reduce heat retention.
- YogaGel Memory Foam: The lower comfort layer is slightly softer than the top layer, allowing the mattress to closely conform to the body without sinking. Body weight is evenly distributed, delivering the right balance between contouring and support for back sleepers.
- Support Layers of Foam: Two support foams with varying densities designed for optimal body alignment and impressive durability.

Responsiveness
Being able to move around easily on your mattress is important, especially if you classify yourself as a combination sleeper. The Casper Original earned a perfect score in our responsiveness test, meaning it’s very easy to coast on. While the Yogabed earned an 8.25/10, it likely will have more of that trapping feeling memory foam beds can be known for. If you toss and turn at night, go with the Casper.
Cooling
Memory foam mattresses are known to be more prone to trapping heat than other types of beds since it’s difficult for air to pass through their layers. During our evaluation, we were surprised to see the Yogabed went above average in this category, most likely thanks to its YogaGel® and breathable foam base. Casper also incorporates its own cooling technologies with an AirScape layer of perforated holes, but we felt it had room for improvement.
Edge Support
Edge support is an important feature that often gets overlooked during your mattress hunt. This is what ensures you don’t fall off your bed when you have a startling dream or your partner decides to take up the bed. The Casper earned a near-perfect 9.5/10 in this category, while the Yogabed earned an 8.75. Both have above-average edge support, something you don’t see often in all-foam beds.
Is Casper or Yogabed the Best Mattress for You?
While the Casper mattress scored higher during our in-house testing, there are some sleepers for whom the Yogabed is a better fit. The right mattress depends on your personal preferences, sleeping position, and body size.
The Yogabed is an ultra-cool memory foam mattress that’s wonderful for hot sleepers. Its close hugging sensation and supportive foam are an excellent fit for back sleepers of all body weights. Couples, too, do well on the Yogabed thanks to its ability to absorb motion. And if you’re someone who’s looking for the best bang for your buck, the Yogabed is less expensive than the Casper.
The original Casper mattress is an all-around excellent memory foam bed. What makes it stand out amongst its competitors is its zoned support foam. Thanks to softer foam at the shoulders and sturdier support along the hips, the Casper works for every sleeping position. It’s also a good option for sleepers who toss and turn thanks to foam that quickly adapts to movement.
Both mattresses come with free shipping and full refunds during the sleep trial period. With 100 nights to try out the Casper or 101 to get to know the Yogabed, you can try out either mattress with zero financial commitment.
