Compare the Construction

When it comes to construction, the DreamCloud and Puffy are very different. The DreamCloud is a hybrid mattress that uses both layers of foam and innerspring to create the perfect blend of comfort and support. It falls at about a 6.5/10 on the firmness scale, making it work great for all types of sleepers.

The Puffy mattress is an all-foam mattress that uses three layers of foam to create a cushioning feel. It’s slightly firmer than the DreamCloud, falling at a 7/10 on the firmness scale. Unlike traditional memory foam mattresses, it doesn’t give you that sinking feeling, which is good for those who like to feel like they’re sleeping “on” a mattress rather than “in” it.

Edge Support

Edge support is something you don’t think about very often when searching for a new mattress, but it’s important if you like to spread out or use your bed as a bench. The DreamCloud earned a perfect 10/10 in this area thanks to its innerspring system. While the Puffy didn’t score as high (8.5/10), it’s still a great option for those wanting a bed with strong edge support.

Motion Transfer

If you sleep with a partner or pet, you know how important it is to find a bed that isolates motion well. DreamCloud does a good job of trapping motion in its memory foam layers, earning a 8.5/10. Puffy was a point behind, at 7.5/10. Those who are easily woken up by movement may do better with the DreamCloud.

Responsiveness

The DreamCloud performed great in our responsiveness evaluation, with a 9/10 score. This makes it an excellent option for restless sleepers or combination sleepers who like to change positions throughout the night. Puffy only scored a 6.5/10.

Which Is the Best Mattress for You?

At the end of the day, consider your sleeping position, sleep environment, budget, and ideal customer experience when making your final decision. For example, if edge support is a must-have, you can’t do better than the DreamCloud. Looking for great spinal alignment? Puffy is a good choice. Let’s dive a little deeper.

Sleeping Position

When shopping for a new mattress, consider your prominent sleep position and what type of bed works best for it. Side sleepers and back sleepers will appreciate the high scores in pressure relief that we gave the DreamCloud. Since the DreamCloud earned more than a full point more in this category, it may be a better option for these types of sleepers.

The DreamCloud mattress did well in our responsiveness test, showing that it would make a great choice for combination sleepers who move around at night. We don’t recommend the Puffy for stomach sleepers since it doesn’t keep their hips elevated very well.

Sleep Environment

Staying cool while you sleep is especially important if you live in a hot climate. Both the DreamCloud and Puffy mattresses scored above average for cooling. The DreamCloud incorporates a coil system that promotes airflow, whereas the Puffy uses gel memory foam in its top layer to keep sleepers cool.

Budget

Price is a big consideration when picking between mattresses. The DreamCloud mattress is the more affordable option, costing around $500 less than the Puffy. DreamCloud also offers financing through Affirm, while Puffy has financing options through Klarna.

Customer Service

With similar scores in customer service, you can rest assured that both companies provide enjoyable purchasing experiences. DreamCloud offers slightly better benefits, with a longer sleep trial and warranty coverage. We found the two companies to be quick in responding to questions and could reach them through a variety of methods.
