Can’t choose between these different mattresses? We make your decision easier in this in-depth GhostBed vs Leesa mattress comparison.
Leesa and GhostBed are prominent names in the bed-in-a-box mattress industry. Their original mattress models are quite different—the Leesa is medium-firm and constructed of all-foam layers. The GhostBed also has foam layers, but is a bit firmer than Leesa since it has a latex top layer.
In this comparison, we’re putting these two mattresses head-to-head to help you determine which is best for you. We’ll cover mattress construction, prices, dimensions, and functionality scores, and conclude with our recommendations.

Side sleepers need a lot of pressure relief to avoid tension in their shoulders and lower back. The Leesa scored two points higher than GhostBed for pressure relief, so it’s a better choice for side sleepers. Stomach sleepers also need pressure relief, but spinal alignment is equally important to prevent lower back pain.
Back sleepers generally don’t need a ton of pressure relief—just enough to keep their spines in a neutral position. For this reason, they can sleep comfortably on mattresses with less pressure relief, and actually prefer firmer mattresses. The GhostBed best fits this description.
Motion transfer is one of the most relevant performance categories for couples. Both mattresses scored above average in this category. If you are an especially light sleeper, the Leesa is a better fit, since it does a near perfect job of isolating motion.
Some couples opt for Split King mattresses that enable each partner to get their preferred firmness level. GhostBed sells a Split King version of their mattress at a slightly higher cost than their King and Cal King. Leesa doesn’t sell a Split King version, so you would be required to order two Twin XL mattresses.
Finally, those with back pain need a mattress that keeps their spine in a neutral position. The Leesa scored 1.5 points higher for spinal alignment, so it’s a better choice for those with back pain.
Pressure relief is also important for avoiding upper back and shoulder pain. Again, Leesa scored higher—this time by 2 points. However, back sleepers with back pain will likely do fine on the GhostBed.
Side and stomach sleepers get more pressure relief on the Leesa mattress. Back sleepers may prefer the slightly firmer GhostBed mattress. Couples and light sleepers experience less disruptions on the Leesa mattress. Both beds sleep equally cool. Leesa is lower cost, unless you want a Twin size.
You get 3+ months to trial either mattress in your own home and a full refund if it’s not the right fit (except GhostBed doesn’t accept returns from Alaska or Hawaii). Remember that it can take a full month for your body to adjust to a new sleeping surface.
Pick whichever mattress best suits your sleeping position and environment, and pay special attention to factors like pressure point relief, motion isolation, and temperature. Both of these beds work for most people, but you’ll need to decide which is right for you.
