Leesa Mattress Review Highlights

  • Pressure Relief: We gave the Leesa mattress an 8.5/10 score for pressure relief because we noticed very little stress on pressure points when our testers slept on their sides and stomachs.
  • High Scores: The Leesa mattress is possibly the highest scoring foam bed on Mattress Advisor. During our rigorous review process, we gave it above-average marks in every single category.
  • Motion Transfer: Leesa uses proprietary foam technology in their mattresses, which drastically improves motion isolation. In other words, there is a much lower chance that your sleep will be disrupted by movement across the mattress.
  • Durability: The lab techs at Leesa simulated a decade of consistent use on their mattress and discovered that it lost no height. You can rest assured that this memory foam mattress won’t quickly develop body impressions or indentations.
  • Multiple Models: Leesa uses their original all-foam mattress as the base model for several other Leesa mattress models that you can choose from. These include the Leesa Hybrid Mattress, Leesa Legend, and Studio Mattress.

Inside the Leesa Mattress

  1. Twill Mattress Cover: The Leesa mattress cover is made of a seamless twill fabric. It’s soft, breathable, and attractively designed.
  2. Comfort Layer: On top of the mattress is a layer of foam. It’s designed to hug your body without the sinking feeling of traditional memory foam. It’s also formulated to be extra breathable.
  3. Transition Layer: The second foam layer is body contouring memory foam that cushions your body weight and keeps your spine in an ideal neutral position.
  4. Base Layer: The Leesa has a foundation of high-density foam that prevents sinkage and keeps the whole mattress stable.
Inside Loom & Leaf

Inside the Loom & Leaf Mattress

  1. Organic Cotton Cover: Saatva uses extra soft organic cotton for their Loom & Leaf mattress cover. It’s also antimicrobial—treated with Guardin, a natural botanical product.
  2. Top Layer: The first layer of memory foam is topped with gel that’s cool-to-touch and prevents heat retention. This layer is slightly denser near the middle to provide extra support for your lumbar region.
  3. Comfort Layer: The second memory foam layer provides pressure relief for higher stress areas like shoulders and hips. It balances the cradling memory foam feel with the responsive buoyancy of traditional polyfoams.
  4. Support Layers: The bottom half of the mattress is made up of multiple layers of foam and a base layer of support foam. All of the foam layers are treated with a natural thistle-based flame retardant.

Sleeping Position

If you’re a back sleeper, you need a firmer mattress to make sure your back stays supported and aligned. Medium-firm beds are still comfortable for you, but the Loom & Leaf firm mattress is going to keep you “on top” of the bed, not inside of it.

Side sleepers need a bed with lots of pressure relief. Leesa is superior in this category. Stomach sleepers also need pressure relief, but too much cushion can cause the lower back to arch out of alignment. Either medium-firm mattress option will work for you.

Lastly, combo sleepers—or those who change position at night—should prioritize their primary sleep position. Both mattresses scored above average for responsiveness, with Leesa outperforming Loom & Leaf by 1.5 points. If you sleep with a partner, you’ll also want to consider motion transfer scores, which we’ll talk about next.

Motion Transfer

This category is important for couples, especially if one or both are combo sleepers or light sleepers. Leesa earned a much higher score in this category, so it’s the best choice for those concerned about disruptions from movement during the night.

Cooling

If you tend to sleep hot, you need a mattress that is temperature regulating. Breathability and additions like cooling gel play a role in how cool a mattress sleeps. During our review process, the Leesa earned a higher score in this category, though both beds scored above average.

Those who live in warm climates or who get especially hot at night will feel more comfortable on the Leesa mattress. If temperature is not your top priority, but you’d like some cooling technology, the Loom & Leaf will be a comfortable choice for you as well.

Our Decision: Which Mattress Is Better?

Back sleepers get better support on Loom & Leaf’s firm mattress. Side sleepers need the superior pressure relief of the Leesa. Stomach sleepers get support and cushion on either medium firm option. Budget shoppers will save on the Leesa. Couples get better motion isolation and edge support on the Leesa.

You’re going to get a high-quality, durable mattress and great customer service from both companies. Pick the mattress the best aligns with your top 2-3 sleep needs and then take advantage of the sleep trials. Leesa offers free returns, but you’ll incur a $99 return fee from Loom & Leaf.

Based on our experience with these beds, plus high scores from customer reviews, we think you’ll get a good night’s sleep, whichever mattress you choose.
