What We Love About the Amerisleep Organica Mattress
- While most mattresses use fiberglass fire barriers, the Amerisleep Organica uses a natural wool fire barrier for a cleaner option.
- Maneuvering a mattress through your hallway can be tricky when there’s no place to grip on the mattress, which is why we appreciate Amerisleep’s thoughtful addition of handles on both sides of the bed.
- Amerisleep makes its Organica Mattress right here in the U.S., allowing them to support local manufacturing and sustainable farming.

Pros and Cons
✅ Pros
- Responsiveness: With a near-perfect score, the Amerisleep Organica is super bouncy and makes changing positions as easy as pie.
- Cooling: This mattress uses temperature-regulating materials to give you a breathable, cool sleeping surface.
- Durability: You won’t have to go shopping for another mattress for a while since this hybrid mattress lasts up to two decades, significantly longer than a traditional memory foam bed.
❌ Cons
- Heavy: While we love the innerspring system and latex incorporated into this hybrid design, it makes the mattress much heavier than a traditional memory foam bed and is difficult to move.
- Edge Support: The Amerisleep Organica scored average in our edge support evaluation and may not be a great option for those who want a sturdier bed.
Motion Transfer
If you sleep with a partner or pet, you know how disruptive it can be if you feel their every move travel from their side of the bed to yours. Motion isolation looks at how well a bed can trap this movement.
During this test, we place a glass of water on the mattress and drop a weighted ball from the air. When the ball fell, the water in the glass moved around a lot. This means this mattress does an average job of isolating motion, which is common for hybrid mattresses since coil systems tend to not isolate motion well. For a mattress with better motion isolation, consider the Helix Midnight.
Edge Support
A mattress with good edge support is important for those who like to spread out or use their bed to get ready in the morning. To test edge support, we have our evaluator sit on the edge of the bed. We noticed that the outer wool border pushed out significantly when they sat down and that their body was pushed forward.
However, when our tester lay on the edge of the bed they felt more support than when they sat down. We gave it a 7.5/10 since it would likely be sufficient edge support for the average sleeper. If you are someone who needs help getting into bed or prefers a bed with a sturdier edge, consider the Amerisleep AS1, which scored a 9.25/10 in this category.
Responsiveness
One area the Amerisleep Organica really excelled in was responsiveness. The marriage of the pocketed coil systems and latex layers makes this bed very bouncy. It’s the perfect bed for those who change positions in the night since it responds well to your motion and doesn’t give you that “stuck in the bed” feel.

Where Does It Fall on the Firmness Scale?
When evaluating beds in our Mattress Advisor lab, we rate them on a firmness scale, starting with 1 for a bed that’s soft as a cloud and ending with 10 for a bed that’s hard as a rock. Typically we find most mattresses have the feel of a medium-firm (6-7) since this appeals to a wide variety of sleepers. The Amerisleep Organica was a 6.5/10 on the firmness scale. It gives you that “on top of” mattress feel while also cushioning your body.

Does Amerisleep Organica Sleep Cool?
The Amerisleep Organica sleeps very cool thanks to its innerspring coil system and latex layers. Hybrid mattresses tend to trap less heat than all-foam mattresses since their coils allow for more airflow.
Amerisleep also uses materials with temperature-regulating properties in its layers. Wool absorbs moisture and does a good job of keeping you cool when it’s hot, while cotton is known for being extremely breathable. If you’re a hot sleeper, we think this mattress is up for the challenge of keeping you arctic cool.

What Sleeping Position Does It Work For?
When it comes to buying a new mattress, it’s important to find one that works well with your sleeping style. Back and side sleepers will especially like this bed since it does a great job of keeping your spine in a neutral position and offers great pressure relief. Its high score in responsiveness also makes it a great option for combination sleepers who need a bed that keeps up with their nightly acrobatic acts.
While the Amerisleep Organica is likely firmer enough for lightweight stomach sleepers, we think heavier stomach sleepers will want something a bit firmer to ensure their hips get the support they need.

How Much Weight Does the Amerisleep Organica Mattress Support?
Amerisleep doesn’t list a weight limit for the Amerisleep Organica but we feel it would support average-weight sleepers. If you weigh more than 230 lbs, you may want to consider a different mattress, like the Helix Plus, especially if you prefer firmer mattresses or sleep on your stomach.
What Foundations or Bed Frames Are Compatible?
The Amerisleep Organica works best with solid mattress foundations, platform beds, and adjustable beds. You also can use slatted mattress foundations with slats no wider than 3″ apart. This mattress isn’t compatible with bed frames with wide slats or box springs since these can cause wear and tear to your bed and void your warranty.

Amerisleep Organica Mattress Materials
As an eco-conscious mattress, the Amerisleep Organica uses all-natural materials in its construction. See more about each layer below.

- Organic Cotton Cover: The Amerisleep Organica comes wrapped in a super soft and breathable mattress cover created from GOTS-certified organic cotton.
- Organic Wool (1″): A layer of cushioning wool adds comfort to your sleep and serves as an all-natural fire barrier.
- Natural Talalay Latex (2″): This soft latex layer helps promote a more breathable sleep and gives the bed its cushioning feel.
- Coil Unit (8″): The pocketed coil system helps isolate motion at night and gives targeted support where you need it.
- Second Natural Talalay Latex Layer (1″): A medium-firm layer of Talalay Latex provides pressure relief and contours to your body.
- Wool Border (1″): The Amerisleep Organica is surrounded by a wool border with stitched handles to make lifting a breeze.

What’s Unboxing Like?
Like Amerisleep’s other mattresses, the Organica comes compressed in a box and delivered to your front door. It took our team just under two minutes to unbox the mattress and take apart the plastic packaging.
Since the mattress is pretty heavy, we recommend getting a friend to help you carry it into your desired room.

Shipping and Delivery
Amerisleep offers free delivery to those living in the continental U.S. This typically takes between 5-7 business days, but can sometimes be as fast as the next day. During peak sale seasons, like Black Friday, you may experience a longer shipping time. After your mattress is shipped, via FedEx, it will take another 1-5 business days to arrive to your doorstep.
Sleep Trial Period
When ordering your Amerisleep Organica Mattress, you get 100 nights to test it out. This is better than when you peruse a mattress store and try out different beds because it allows you to see what it’s like in your home.
If you’re not fully satisfied with your purchase, you can return it. Amerisleep requires that you wait at least 30 days to give your body time to adapt to the new materials.
Amerisleep Organica Mattress Warranty
Amerisleep offers a generous 20-year warranty with all of its mattresses to customers in the continental U.S. and Canada. During the first 10 years, they will offer a full replacement warranty if they deem your Amerisleep Organica to be defective. The second half of your warranty coverage is a prorated warranty: Amerisleep will replace your mattress at a portion of its original price. The warranty covers manufacturer defects and structural damages, such as faulty cover zippers and cracks in the foam.
Amerisleep Customer Service
Amerisleep offers several ways to contact one of its sleep experts. Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. MST:
- Call 1-800-500-4233
- Email cs@amerisleep.com
- Fill out an email request form on the Amerisleep website
- Use the live chat feature on the Amerisleep website
While they have several options for getting in contact, we noticed their live chat feature required filling out a request form. When we sent a message, Amerisleep sent us an email saying we would receive a response in 2-3 business days, which is much longer than instant replies we get from other mattress companies.
Return Policy
The Amerisleep Organica mattress is eligible for free returns during your 100-night sleep trial. If you want to return your bed before the 30 days, you will be subject to a $99 early processing fee. Those who return their mattress after 30 days will be issued a full refund to the billing method they used.
To initiate a refund, contact a customer service representative. They will help coordinate a free professional pick up of your mattress. Once your mattress is picked up, you will receive a full refund.
Is the Amerisleep Organica Right for You?
The Amerisleep Organica is a great choice for those concerned about the materials that go into their bed and people with allergies. We think side, back, and combination sleepers will really appreciate its responsiveness and spine alignment. It also uses breathable materials, making it excellent for those who sleep hot.
We wouldn’t recommend this bed to those with latex allergies since it can stimulate a reaction. It’s also more expensive than other mattresses, so it may not appeal to those on a tight budget.
Do I need to flip my Amerisleep Organica mattress?
Nope! Amerisleep specifically designs its mattresses for long durability without needing to flip or rotate them. Flipping your mattress can actually void your warranty so we wouldn’t recommend it.
If I have a latex allergy, can I still sleep on the Amerisleep Organica?
Amerisleep doesn’t recommend that those with latex allergies sleep on its Organica mattress since there’s the risk that it could cause a reaction. Instead, they recommend trying out one of their memory foam or hybrid mattresses. For more about latex allergies and latex mattresses, check out our guide.
Where is the Amerisleep Organica Mattress made?
Amerisleep makes all of its mattresses in the U.S. This allows them to ship quickly to those living in the U.S. and helps cut down on emissions.
