Pros and Cons
- Cooling: Earning a perfect 10/10, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow’s advanced cooling technology does everything it says it’s supposed to.
- Spine Alignment: The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow’s use of gel pods helps provide zoned ergonomic support to keep your spine in a neutral position all night long.
- Responsiveness: Having a hybrid design not only keeps this mattress cool but also gives it a very responsive feel, great for combination sleepers.
- Off-Gassing: During our unboxing process, we noticed a slight off-gassing smell but this is normal for bed-in-box mattresses and typically goes away after a few hours.
- Price: With a queen-size mattress costing well over $3,000, this is a pricier mattress, but as such, it comes with some really great bonuses.
When shopping for a mattress, you likely won’t think about whether it has good edge support, but this is an important quality for those who roll around a lot at night or use their bed to get ready in the morning. During our testing of the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow, we had a reviewer sit and lie on the edge of the bed. They felt a slight push toward the floor but overall felt the bed supported them well. We gave the mattress an 8/10 since it has above-average edge support but isn’t as sturdy as some other hybrid mattresses we have tested, like the DreamCloud Mattress.
To test a mattress’s pressure relief, we use a special pressure map. This shows us buildup areas with warm colors (yellows and reds) and areas with pressure relief with cool colors (greens and blues).
When our tester lay on their side, the map showed mostly blues, with some green in the hip and shoulder area. The map was all blue when the tester lay on their back and stomach. We gave the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress a 9/10 for pressure relief since it was mostly all blue for all sleeping positions.
Maintaining a proper spine position at night is just as important as sitting up right during the day. The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow really hit the nail in this evaluation area, earning a 9.5/10. This means that it’s a great mattress for those experiencing back pain.
Where Does It Fall on the Firmness Scale?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress is a little firmer than the standard Wave Hybrid, falling at a 6/10 on the firmness scale. This is slightly softer than the industry’s standard for medium-firm. Those who prefer firmer mattresses may find this bed to be too soft for them.
Does the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Sleep Cool?
As its name suggests, the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow sleeps very cool. This is thanks to the QuickCool™ Cover, which contains breathable Phase Change Material that collects your body heat and directs it away from you. The mattress also has HeatDelete™ Bands and a foam layer with thousands of perforations to promote airflow.
What Sleeping Position Does It Work For?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow works well for back and side sleepers since it provides excellent spinal alignment. Lighter-weight side sleepers may find the Casper Wave Hybrid is a better option for them thanks to its softer feel. Since it’s a very responsive mattress, this also would be a great option for combination sleepers who change positions during the night. However, since stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress that can keep their hips elevated, they may find this mattress is too soft for them.
How Much Weight Does the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Support?
When designing its mattresses, Casper doesn’t set a weight limit since they create their beds for all shapes and sizes. Since this is a hybrid, we feel it would do a good job of supporting all body types. Keep in mind that the firmness level will vary depending on how much you weigh. Sleepers over 230 lbs may find this to be too soft for them. For a better option, check out our best mattresses for heavy people guide.
What Foundations or Bed Frames Are Compatible?
Using the right foundation with your Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is important so that you can be eligible for your warranty coverage. Casper mattresses are designed to be compatible with any firm, solid surface that is capable of supporting the weight of the mattress and user(s). This includes slatted bed foundations, adjustable foundations, platform foundations, metal-frame foundations, box springs, and bunkie boards.
Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress Materials
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow contains four layers of foam and an innerspring system. All the foam layers are CertiPUR-US certified, meaning they are made without the use of ozone-depleting chemicals.
- QuickCool Cover: Casper’s specialty cover is infused with Phase Change Materials so you can feel instant coolness as soon as you hit the hay.
- AirScape™ Layer: Coated with a cooling gel layer, the AirScape™ foam is perforated and super breathable.
- Foam Layer with HeatDelete Bands: Another layer of AirScape™ foam with six HeatDelete™ bands, that direct heat away from your body.
- AirScape™Layer with Zoned Support™ Max: This third AirScape™ layer guides air so it can flow and consists of a memory foam divided into three areas of Zoned Support™ Max for ergonomic support.
- Gel Pod Layer: The final foam layer contains gel pods, which support the lower back area of your body.
- Coil System: This spring layer adds support and airflow to the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress and gives it great edge support.

What’s Unboxing Like?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Mattress comes rolled up and in a tall cardboard box. Since a queen-size model is over 100 lbs, we recommend getting someone to help carry it into your home. It took our team just over two minutes to unbox and was fairly easy to set up.

Is the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow Right for You?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow is a great option for those who sleep hot since it incorporates several cooling technologies. It also scored high for spinal alignment, making it a wonderful pick for those with back pain and athletes looking for a recovery mattress. We feel most sleeping positions will be comfortable, with the exception of heavy-weight stomach sleepers and light-weight side sleepers.
Since the mattress comes at a higher price than others on the market, we wouldn’t recommend it to budget shoppers. For a more affordable option, consider the Casper Wave Hybrid, which is very similar to the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow.
How long do I have to wait after unboxing my Casper Wave Hybrid Snow before sleeping on it?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow takes minutes to expand after unboxing it and removing the plastic wrapping. It may take a couple of days for it to reach its full dimensions but you can sleep on your new bed right away.
What makes the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow different from the Casper Wave Hybrid?
The Casper Wave Hybrid Snow and Casper Wave Hybrid have similar constructions but the Snow version comes with some premier features, leading it to cost more. This includes the HeatDelete Bands and QuickCool Cover.
Can I use my sheets on the Casper Wave Hybrid Snow?
Yes, you can most definitely use your own sheets as long as they fit a 13″ mattress.
