Level Sleep highlights

  • The patented TriSupport technology in the top layer of this mattress marries lumbar support with soft shoulder and hip zones making this mattress supportive yet, comfortable.
  • The regions on the mattress where the shoulders and hips fall have a softer firmness than the torso region, which is firmer to help keep your spine aligned.

Level Sleep TriSupport Design

  • In 2009, the TriSupport mattress was tested by the Institutional Review Board (IRB). The results confirmed that 56% of participants fell asleep more quickly on the TriSupport mattress as compared to their current bed.
  • Level Sleep has been approved to take payments from most HSA/FSA cards. In fact, several customers have had success receiving reimbursement from their HSA/FSA administrator on purchases of Level Sleep products. However, there is no guarantee that every individual’s HSA/FSA card will be accepted for a particular charge.

Level Sleep mattress review

Take a deeper look into our review of the Level Sleep mattress, including our methodology, scoring and mattress performance to help you determine if this could be the mattress for you.

Set up test

The Level Sleep mattress took us just at a minute and a half to set-up. The mattress was light and easy to handle. There was minimal smell and it puffed to life instantly.

So for our setup test, Level Sleep gets a 9.5 out of 10.

Motion Transfer Test

Motion transfer is just a fancy way of saying how much movement you feel if your partner is moving around. You want this to be pretty minimal for a peaceful night of sleep.

Part A - The Humans

The Mattress Advisor motion transfer test is divided into two parts. We begin by asking our sleep subjects to lie on the bed, blindfolded, and rate on a scale of one to ten how much movement they felt when their partner was moving around with 10 being no movement at all.

The Level Sleep kept motion transfer pretty minimal. It scored an 8 out of 10.

Part B - The Wine

Next, comes our wine test. This is great visual indicator of how much motion is being transferred from one side of the bed to another.

We had our sleep subject lie down and roll back and forth a few times. We then took a look at how much the wine inside of the glass moved. Take a look for yourself.

The wine had a little shimmy, but not too bad! So we gave it an 8.5

So for a total motion transfer score, we gave Level Sleep an 8.25 out of 10.

Edge Support Test

When choosing a mattress, you may not think to consider how much support the edge provides. But if you find yourself sleeping on the edge of your bed or use the end to get ready in the morning, you should definitely consider the edge support.

The Mattress Advisor edge support test is a two-part test.

Part A - The Shoe Test

To start, we asked our sleep subjects to sit on the edge of the bed to tie their shoes. They rated this task on a scale from one to ten, with 10 being “extremely easy, with exceptional edge support.”

The Level Sleep scored a 5 for the edge shoe test. Our sleep subjects noted the edge felt a little slippery to sit on. Note that this may go away with the use of sheets.

Part B - The Side Test

Next, we had them lie on the edge of the bed in each sleeping position, side, stomach and back, to see if they could sleep comfortably in that section of the bed.

Once again, our sleep subjects found it a little difficult to lay on the edge, although comfy. So for the edge support side, the Level Sleep scored a 7.

So Level Sleep gets a 6 out of 10 for edge support.

Pressure Relief Test

When shopping for a mattress, you’ll want to find something that puts minimal pressure on your hips, thighs and shoulders. Let’s take a look at how well the Level provides pressure relief.

We measure pressure relief by using a pressure mapping film that shows areas of high pressure. Here’s what you need to know: the cool spots are good and the warms spots are bad. The warmer the color, the more pressure is being placed on that area of the body.

We saw some red on the shoulder of sleep subject one! So we gave him an 8.

We saw no red on sleep subject two! So we give her an 8.5 out of 10.

So for a total pressure relief score, Level Sleep gets a 8.25 out of 10.

Spine Alignment Test

Did you know your sleeping posture is just as important as your posture when you are awake?  For every mattress we test, we take a look at how well it keeps your spine in a straight line.

We took a close up of both sleep subject’s backs to see the alignment. You’ll want to see a straight line from the neck all the way to the tailbone.

Both spines were really straight with only a slight curve towards the base of the neck!

For spine alignment, the Level Sleep gets a 9.5 out of 10.

Responsiveness Test

When it comes to getting comfortable on your mattress, responsiveness becomes very important. Responsiveness is just a fancy way of saying how well the mattress adjusts or responds to your sleeping positions while you sleep.

We had the sleep subjects lie in each sleeping position, side, stomach and back. As they changed positions and got settled in, we asked them to rate on a scale from one to ten how quickly and easily the mattress responded to their movement.

Both felt the Level Sleep did a pretty good job of responding to their adjustments.

Level Sleep scored an 8 out of 10 for responsiveness.

A look inside

The TriSupport mattress by Level Sleep consists of two foam layers covered by a breathable stretch cover woven in North Carolina. The top foam layer is divided into three performance zones to better support different regions of the body.

3’’ Performance layer made of open-cell memory foam:

  • Head and Shoulder Region: made with LEVELsoft Foam – a cushioning foam designed to provide pressure relief and reduce pain points.
  • Torso Region: made with LEVELfirm Foam – aka the “lumbar support” region. This firmer region is designed to provide support for your low back and side.
  • Hip and Leg Region: made with LEVELmid Foam – this medium-firm support layer is designed to support and align your hips with your spine to prevent spine misalignment.

7″ Base layer made of High Resilience Polyurethane foam: This base layer is the sturdy foundation designed to support the performance layer.

What Level Sleep customers have to say

  • “I ordered the Level Sleep mattress about a 6 weeks ago. The mattress was firm and I worked with the great customer service team to see if there was a way to make it a little softer. They sent me the Level Sleep mattress topper to put on the mattress and that made all the difference! I have been experiencing great nights of sleep and my shoulder pain went away. Level Sleep has been communicative through the whole process and really care about the customers.” – Michelle
  • “Level Sleep products are literally brilliant. They have varying levels of firmness within ONE mattress/mattress pad to properly support your body in different areas no matter how you sleep. My boyfriend prefers a firm mattress and I prefer softer – great, right?! Our mattress was TOO firm for me so we got the Level Sleep mattress topper and both LOVE it. He and I both agree it’s the most comfortable bed we have ever slept on hands down. Years ago, we had a Tempurpedic mattress which I actually loved but it trapped in heat which the boyfriend did not love and it was still not quite firm enough for his liking. Level Sleep products do NOT trap in heat and provide the perfect firmness in all the right places. Before getting this topper, I was having neck & back pain which has since gone away since I’ve been sleeping on this. I could not recommend Level Sleep products more. Worth every penny. We spend 1/3 of our lives sleeping – give yourself the gift of the best possible, most comfortable night’s sleep (and naps) ever.” – Ellen
  • “I found Level Sleep through a friend and then was welcomed into their cozy Sonoma home store to one on for style. While the mattress in the store was amazing and is what prompted my first purchase for my new place; it was not until 30 days of incredible sleep that I appreciated the beauty of the TriSupport Mattress and Level Sleep’s innovative technology. The stress of moving paired with other life altering events left me quite sleepless, but there was something in the comfort of my Level Sleep mattress that helped me sleep like a baby. More than 120 days in, my mattress continues to provide healing and restful sleep as promised. I am a believer! Thank you.” – Brooke
