Mend Renew Performance Highlights
✅ Pros
- Pressure Relief: Our pressure map only had good things to say about the Mend Renew mattress, so you don’t have to worry about waking up with any new aches and pains.
- Responsiveness: The Mend Renew has a whole lot of bounce to it and makes changing positions a breeze.
- Cooling: As soon as we touched this mattress, we felt the benefits of its cooling-gel infused air-cell foams.
❌ Cons
- Edge Support: Despite focusing on creating a mattress with strong edge support, the Mend Sleep’s Renew gave us that sinking feeling, kind of like when the bachelor picks the wrong girl.
- Motion Transfer: Anyone who sleeps with a partner or pet knows how important motion isolation is and sadly, this bed scored pretty average in this category.
Edge Support
The Mend Renew dipped a lot when we sat on the edge, which could be a problem for those who tend to sit down to get into bed. However, we noticed when our testers lay on the side of the bed, it had a little better edge support.
Pressure Relief
During our testing, we use a pressure map to identify any areas of pressure buildup. These are shown with warm colors, such as yellow and red, while pressure-relieving spots are shown with cooler colors, such as green and blue.
When our testers lay on their side, the pressure relief map was all blue. Similarly, when they lay on their back, it was also blue. This was the case for both our light and heavier testers, showing that it’s a great mattress for relieving pressure buildup for all body types.

Motion Transfer
A mattress with a high score in our motion transfer test is able to absorb any sounds or movements a partner makes on the bed. When we tested this mattress, we noticed that it was pretty average in this department, which should be fine for many people. However, if you’re someone who tends to wake up easily, you may want to check out a mattress with a better motion transfer score, such as the WinkBeds GravityLux.

Where Does It Fall on the Firmness Scale?
The Mend Renew earns the Goldilocks for firmness, scoring at the industry standard for medium-firm at 6.5/10. This means that most sleepers should find this bed to be the perfect combination of support and comfort.

Does the Mend Renew Sleep Cool?
One of the three key target areas Mend Sleep said they hoped to address when starting their company was creating a mattress that doesn’t sleep hot. The Mend Renew uses cooling-gel infused air-cell foams to create a breathable surface. The coil system also does a great job of enhancing airflow. Its breathable Tencel cover creates a cool-to-the-touch mattress that regulates your body temperature so you don’t have to wake up in sweats.

What Sleeping Position Does It Work For?
With a medium firmness level, the Mend Renew works great for side, back, and combination sleepers. It finds the right balance between offering pressure relief in the comfort layers and providing excellent support with the coil system.
However, stomach sleepers may find this bed isn’t firm enough for them. Most stomach sleepers need a firmer mattress that can keep their hips elevated. If this is you, consider one of our top mattresses for stomach sleepers, such as the Brooklyn Bedding Plank, which is known for being a super firm option.

How Much Weight Does the Mend Renew Mattress Support?
Mend Sleep recommends the Mend Renew mattress for those weighing 300 lbs or less. Since it has a firmer feel than some other hybrid mattresses, it’s able to support a decent amount of weight.
What Foundations or Bed Frames Are Compatible?
In order to qualify for the lifetime warranty, it’s important to make sure your mattress is continuously supported by a resting base or foundation that is sufficient to support the collective weight of the mattress and those sleeping on it. The Mend Renew is compatible with any surface. This includes slatted foundations, adjustable bases, box springs, and even the floor. Mend Sleep also sells foundations and adjustable bases to use with the Mend Renew mattress.

Mend Renew Mattress Materials
The Mend Renew mattress consists of 4 layers of revolutionary foams and an ultra-durable pocket coil system.

- Mattress Cover: A Tencel cover surrounds the Mend Renew mattress, promoting breathability and providing a soft surface.
- Quilted Top Layer: The top layer includes a quilted top with a soft finish and 1” of conforming quilting foam inside.
- Comfort Layer: This layer consists of a gel memory foam, which provides responsiveness and excellent pressure relief.
- Transitional Layer: Another layer of foam separates the comfort and support layers from one another.
- Support Layer: At the bottom of the Mend Renew sits a quantum pocket coil system, which offers support all night long.

What’s Unboxing Like?
As a bed-in-box company, the Mend Sleep ships its mattresses compressed in cardboard boxes. It took our team about a minute and a half to unpack. We noticed it didn’t have an off-gassing smell and was fairly light, making it easy to lift.

Is the Mend Renew Right for You?
Let’s recap. The Mend Renew mattress is great for you if you are looking for something to keep you cool and relieve your pressure in major pressure point areas. It comes in a medium-firm level, making it a great balance between being supportive while still giving you some cushion.
While this mattress may be great for some sleepers, you may want to steer clear of it if you tend to get easily woken up by your partner at night since it scored low in motion isolation. It’s also not very great for stomach sleepers who need something a little firmer to give them the full support they need. Mend Sleep also sells another hybrid mattress, the Mend Adapt, which comes with an adjustable option so you can make it firmer.

Q.
Will regular sheets fit my Mend Renew mattress?
A.
Yes, most sheets should be compatible with your Mend Renew mattress. However, if you have an old set of sheets that aren’t deep pocketed, they may be too small.
Q.
Should I use a mattress protector with my Mend Renew?
A.
Mend Sleep recommends placing a mattress protector on your new bed to help keep it clean. This also helps you avoid getting stains on your mattress, which can void the warranty.
Q.
Can I adjust the firmness of my mattress?
A.
If you decide you don’t like the firmness of your Mend Renew mattress, you can request a firmer or softer insert for a $179 fee. Mend Sleep also offers mattress upgrades where you can request a more expensive mattress and pay for the difference in price plus a $120 shipping fee.
