Our thoughts: The Nuvanna is a memory foam mattress with a medium-firm feel that works well for every sleeping position. In our testing, we found that it supports a healthy spine, is cooler than the average bed, limits motion transfer, and doesn’t leave you feeling stuck like traditional memory foam beds.

Spine alignment is one of the most important tests that we do when it comes to how your body feels come morning. You want a mattress that supports healthy spine alignment so that you can have proper posture during the night. This test is particularly important for people who suffer from back pain or body aches.
To test how well a mattress supports the spine, we have our two sleep testers lie on their sides and we take a look at their spines. What we want is a straight spine, all the way from the tailbone to the neck. Take a look at the images below—both Asha and RJ had ultra-straight spines.
Edge support is a mattress characteristic that most shoppers don’t know to look for. If you share the bed, you may sleep along the edges for more space and comfort. Additionally, many people use the edges to put on shoes or help them get in and out of bed.
To test a mattress’s edges, we conduct two tests. In the first, we have our testers sit along the bed’s edge and put on their shoes, rating how easy it was to do so. RJ and Asha found the edges pretty secure, earning the Nuvanna an 8.5/10 in our shoe test.
In the next test, our sleep testers lie along the edge on their backs, stomachs, and sides to see how comfortable it is to sleep there. In this test, both Asha and RJ felt a bit unsteady, with a combined score of 7/10 for this section of the test.
What these results tell us is that the edges are great for assistance with entering or exiting the bed and they’re comfortable to sit on. However, if you have a full bed and you need to spread out, you may find yourself less-than-comfortable along the mattress perimeter.
If you share your bed with a partner or furry family member, you’ll want a mattress that limits motion transfer. To see how well a mattress absorbs motion, we conduct two tests.
In the first test, we fill a wine glass up with red wine, balance it on one side of the mattress, and have one of our sleep testers toss and turn on the other side. What we’re looking for is any movement in the wine or the glass itself. When RJ moved around on the mattress, neither the wine nor the glass moved much, so we gave it a score of 9/10.
In the second test, we have our sleep testers lie together on the bed. Next, one person will move around while the other rates how well the mattress isolates motion. Our sleep testers then switch roles. RJ and Asha rated the Nuvanna a 9/10 in this test, too.
With excellent performance in our motion isolation tests, we recommend the Nuvanna for light sleepers who share the bed.
The Nuvanna works for every sleeping position. The soft surface and contouring memory foam work well for side sleepers and back sleepers, while the firm foam base helps to keep the hips in line for stomach sleepers. Thanks to a surface that’s easy to move on, the Nuvanna even works well for combination sleepers.
The Nuvanna mattress sleeps cool when compared to the average all-foam mattress. This cooling potential is thanks to phase change materials engineered to disperse heat and open-cell foam that enhances airflow.
While the Nuvanna doesn’t have a set weight limit, a representative that we spoke with said that customers up to 300 pounds seemed to have positive experiences with this mattress. However, with its all-foam construction, we’d recommend this mattress primarily to those who weigh less than 230 pounds.
You can use any sturdy foundation that’s in good shape. This includes a slatted bed base, box spring, platform bed, bunkie board, or adjustable base.
The Nuvanna mattress is made up of three foam layers designed to provide comfort, support, and temperature control.

The Nuvanna mattress comes compressed, rolled, and boxed. You will simply unbox the mattress, unroll it on your foundation (if you’re using one), and wait for it to expand.
When we unboxed the Nuvanna mattress, two of us had it set up in less than two minutes. There was a noticeable off-gassing odor when we set it up, which is typical of all-foam beds. The scent dissipated rather quickly, although it may take up a few days to fully disappear.
Let’s take a look at what you can expect when buying a mattress from Nuvanna.

The Nuvanna 100-night sleep trial starts the day you receive your mattress. A 100-night trial period is the most common sleep trial for bed-in-a-box mattress companies. It gives you plenty of time to see if you love your new mattress.
One word of caution: it can take a few weeks for your body to adjust to a new bed. Think of it like a new pair of running shoes—what might feel awkward on day one can be your favorite pair of shoes by day 30. If you decide that the mattress isn’t living up to your expectations, contact Nuvanna customer service to initiate a return.
The Nuvanna 10-year warranty covers defects that aren’t expected from normal wear-and-tear and that aren’t caused by improper mattress support. This includes things like body indentations and foam cracks.
You can contact Nuvanna customer service using one of three methods: call, text, or email. Unlike most online mattress brands, Nuvanna doesn’t have a live chat feature.
Here’s how you can contact them.
We’ve used email when we’ve had questions. We received helpful responses within a few hours each time.
If you’re not satisfied with your mattress within your 100-night trial period, Nuvanna will pick it up from your home, donate it to the Salvation Army or other charitable organization, and issue you a full refund.
The Nuvanna is a high-quality memory foam mattress. Nuvanna pairs responsive polyfoam and contouring memory foam to create a bed that excels at spinal alignment and ease-of-movement. We also love how cool the Nuvanna mattress sleeps, making it a good option for most hot sleepers.
Couples who share king or California king mattresses are also likely to enjoy the Nuvanna. Its all-foam construction dampens motion transfer so you both can sleep soundly. However, our sleep testers didn’t find the edges particularly comfortable to lay along, so it may not be a good choice if you share a smaller mattress. For a bed that excels at both motion isolation and edge support, we recommend the Cocoon Chill mattress.
We love the Nuvanna’s medium-firm feel as it’s soft enough for side sleepers and supportive enough for back and stomach sleepers. However, not every person is going to love the Nuvanna. In particular, its all-foam construction doesn’t offer the kind of support that spring mattresses do, which is typically better for heavier people. For a bed designed for plus-size people, check out our Titan mattress review.
The Nuvanna is a memory foam mattress with an average firmness level. Its price, too, is around average for a bed-in-a-box foam mattress. It, like most all-foam beds, works well for every sleeping position and for sleepers who weigh less than 230 pounds. In spite of all of these similarities to other beds, there are a few ways that the Nuvanna stands out.
Nuvanna’s proprietary foam technology delivers exceptional body alignment. It’s one of very few mattresses, memory foam or otherwise, that earned a perfect score in our spine alignment test. If you struggle with back pain, you may find relief on a bed that keeps your spine properly supported.
Another noticeable difference between the Nuvanna and most other foam mattresses is that it’s good for hot sleepers. Thanks to cooling technology found in the upper and lower layers of the Nuvanna, it sleeps cooler than the average foam mattress.
Finally, the Nuvanna is more responsive than traditional memory foam beds. Responsiveness is a measure of how quickly a mattress responds to your movements. The greater the responsiveness, the easier it is to get comfy in a new position. For this reason, we believe the Nuvanna is an excellent choice for people who like to move around a lot at night (I’m talking to you, combination sleepers).
Nuvana manufactures their beds in the USA.
No, the temporary scent that you may notice when you first unbox your mattress isn’t harmful. Nuvanna uses CertiPUR-US certified foams to safeguard their customers’ health. Within a few days, it should be gone.
You can spot clean your Nuvanna mattress with mild detergent and cold water. Let it air dry before putting sheets back on. The mattress cover cannot be removed, so we recommend using a waterproof mattress protector to keep it safe from spills and accidents.
