Puffy Lux Hybrid Highlights

Hybrid mattresses tend to be great for sleepers who prefer a universal firmness and a nice cool sleeping surface, and the Puffy Lux Hybrid is no different. What the Puffy Hybrid does differently than the original Puffy mattress and Puffy Lux mattress is add a dense coil base to the cloud-like layers of foam, creating a best-of-both-worlds situation. At once, you can enjoy the comfort of memory foam and the durability, support, and temperature regulation of innerspring coils.
Best Things About the Puffy Lux Hybrid
- The Puffy Lux Hybrid offers great spine alignment, making it a wonderful choice for back sleepers or people with lower back pain.
- Scoring a firmness level of 6, the Puffy Hybrid also works well for stomach sleepers, who tend to prefer mattresses that are neither too soft nor too firm.
- The stain-resistant Zip-n-Wash mattress cover makes eating in bed a stress-free activity, though you may still have to contend with crumbs.

Pros and Cons
✅ Pros
- Cooling: Those who tend to sleep hot will find the Cooling Cloud technology ideal for staying cool throughout even the warmest nights.
- Customer service: With a 101-night sleep trial, a lifetime warranty, free shipping and returns, and excellent customer service, Puffy is nearly unmatched among mattress companies when it comes to keeping their shoppers happy.
- Spine Alignment: The firm core support and spine aligning foam make sleeping on your back or stomach pain free.
❌ Cons
- White Glove Service: Puffy does not offer white glove delivery, so you will need to dispose of your old mattress and set up your new Puffy Lux Hybrid on your own.
- Responsiveness: Because of a low responsiveness score, the Puffy may not be right for sleepers who change positions throughout the night.
- Pressure Relief: Similarly, side sleepers may experience unpleasant pressure in their shoulder and hip areas and find this less comfortable than softer mattresses.
Edge Support
During our edge support, we noticed that the side of the bed sagged quite a bit when we sat on it. The dip was not as severe when we were lying down, but it still didn’t feel firm. This measurement pertains mostly to people who roll towards the side of their bed and people who simply prefer to sleep towards the side of their bed.
Even a slight sag can create the illusion that you are sliding off the bed, which can be very uncomfortable and make it difficult to fall asleep. If you are specifically looking for strong edge support in a mattress, we recommend you check out the Casper.

Spine Alignment
The spine alignment test measures how well the bed contours to the spine’s natural curve, whether you are on your side or on your back. The better equipped a mattress is to do this, the less likely you are to wake up with lower back pain. This is especially important for back and side sleepers.
The Puffy Lux Hybrid scored a solid 8 on this test, making it a really good option for shoppers looking for these qualities in a bed. If, however, you are on the lookout for something that does a bit better contouring to your spine, we recommend the Tuft & Needle Mint.

Pressure Relief
As noted above, the Puffy Lux Hybrid does a great job of relieving pressure in your lower back. When it comes to other pressure points, however, it was not as successful. If you look at the heat map below, you’ll see red spots on the shoulders and hips of our mattress tester. Basically, this means that the mattress was too firm to allow these heavy areas to sink into the mattress comfortably. Though it may not be as much of an issue for lightweight sleepers, people sensitive in these areas might want to consider shopping around. The Leesa mattress did particularly well in this category.

How Firm is the Puffy Lux Hybrid?
The Puffy Lux Hybrid is medium-firm, putting it right around a 6 on our firmness scale–a level that most stomach and back sleepers will find just about perfect.
See our roundup of best medium-firm mattresses.

Does it Match up with Your Sleeping Position?
Side Sleeper
Because of the excessive pressure on our shoulders and hips when we rested on the mattress, this probably isn’t the best mattress for side sleepers. That said, if you are a rather lightweight person, you may not have so much of a problem with it.
Back Sleeper
The medium-firm feel and solid spine alignment of this mattress make it an ideal choice for people who sleep on their back throughout the night. Even when stacked against our best mattresses for back sleepers the Puffy Lux Hybrid holds its own.
Stomach Sleeper
Stomach sleepers will find this mattress quite comfortable for the same reasons as back sleepers. The comfort layer feels soft on your stomach and the innerspring support layer keeps you from experiencing too much sinkage. To compare it to our other top picks, head over to our best mattress for stomach sleepers guide.
Combination Sleeper
Something we haven’t talked too much about is the Puffy Lux Hybrid’s responsiveness score. This measures the mattress’s ability to keep up with and adapt to your body’s movements throughout the night. A low score means that it can be difficult to move from one position to the next, which is not ideal in a mattress for combination sleepers.

Does the Puffy Lux Hybrid Sleep Cool?
We were quite impressed with how cool the Puffy Lux Hybrid kept us. As is the case with many hybrid mattresses, the alternating layers of innerspring coil and foam do a great job of promoting airflow so the mattress never retains too much heat.

How Much Weight Does the Puffy Lux Hybrid Mattress Support?
The Puffy Hybrid can hold up to 350 lbs on each side of the mattress, making it compatible with most body types.
What Foundations or Bed Frames Can be Used with Puffy Lux Hybrid?
The Puffy Lux Hybrid can be placed on any bed frame or foundation. This includes flat frames, adjustable frames, box springs, and slats.

What is the Puffy Lux Hybrid Mattress Made of?
Three layers of memory foam and one stabilizing coil base make up the Puffy Lux Hybrid. With a cooling top layer, a firm base layer, and two pressure-relieving and temperature regulating transition layers, this hybrid mattress finds a wonderful middle ground between some of the best innerspring mattresses and best memory foam mattresses.

- Cloud Cover: The Puffy Lux Hybrid begins with a stain-resistant cloud cover which is hypoallergenic and helps keep your mattress clean for years to come.
- Cooling Cloud Foam Layer (1.5″): The Puffy Lux Hybrid’s gel-infused memory foam keeps you cool and comfortable by helping to circulate air and wick away heat.
- Plush Dual Cloud Foam (1.5″): This layer helps to contour to your body and relieve pressure in key areas so you can wake up feeling relaxed.
- Climate Comfort™ Memory Foam (2″): The Lux Hybrid’s heat-resistant layer of foam works to keep the mattress consistently at a comfortable temperature.
- Contour-Adapt Coil Base (7″): At the base of the Lux Hybrid is a contour-adopt coil layer that provides durability and absorbs movement.
- Grip Base Cover: Puffy uses a grip base cover to help your mattress stay put throughout the night despite your tossing and turning.

Is the Buy Puffy Lux Hybrid Right for You?
The Puffy Lux Hybrid is a great option for anyone who enjoys the plushness of memory foam but also the durability of innerspring mattresses. It does a great job of keeping you cool and making sure your spine stays aligned to its natural curve; for those reasons, it’s a great choice for back and stomach sleepers and also people who get warm at night. The mattress is constructed of high-quality materials, and it has some of the best customer service of any online mattress company we’ve come across.
If you are a light sleeper and you share a bed with someone, then this may not be the best choice, as the Puffy Lux Hybrid doesn’t have the best motion isolation. If you’re looking for something more affordable, you can check out our roundup of best budget mattresses.
Puffy Lux Hybrid Mattress Comparisons
- Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Original Puffy: The Puffy original is the most affordable mattress in the Puffy family, considerably cheaper than the Puffy Lux Hybrid. Despite having three layers as opposed to the Lux’s four, the original Puffy still received higher marks in categories like responsiveness and edge support.
- Puffy Lux Hybrid vs Puffy Lux: The major difference is that the Puffy Lux memory foam bed is medium-soft and has a support foam base rather than a coil base. Score-wise, the memory foam option beats out the hybrid in every one of our categories.
Puffy Lux Hybrid vs. Puffy Royal Hybrid

The Puffy Lux Hybrid and Puffy Royal Hybrid are Puffy’s luxury takes on its all-foam bed. Both hybrid mattresses have a medium-firm feel and offer more support than the original Puffy. However, the Royal Hybrid feels quite a bit softer than the Lux Hybrid. This makes the Royal a better fit for side sleepers and those looking to get some body-contouring from their mattress.
The firmer Lux Hybrid is a better option for back sleepers and those with back pain. It will do a better job keeping back sleepers’ hips lifted up in line with their shoulders to offer optimal support. The Lux Hybrid is also more affordable than the Royal Hybrid, making it a better pick for budget shoppers.

Puffy Lux Hybrid vs. Purple Hybrid Premier
Criteria | Puffy Lux Hybrid | Purple Hybrid Premier |
Mattress Advisor Score | 8.3/10 | 8.8/10 |
Firmness | Medium-Firm: (6/10) | Soft: (4/10) |
Material | Hybrid | Hybrid |
Who’s It Best For? |

|
The Purple Hybrid Premier and Puffy Lux Hybrid are built very differently. The Purple features a unique grid layer that makes it springy and pressure-relieving. That makes the Purple Hybrid Premier mattress the best pick for combination sleepers who need to move around easily at night and side sleepers who need cushioning around their joints. The Purple’s grid layer is also exceptionally cooling, which gives this bed an edge with hot sleepers.
On the other hand, the Puffy Lux Hybrid has a firmer, more traditional feel. This makes it a better option for sleepers who prefer a classic hybrid or innerspring mattress. Its firmer build also makes the Puffy Lux Hybrid better fit for back and stomach sleepers than the Purple Hybrid Premier. Finally, budget shoppers may prefer the Puffy. While both beds are on the pricier side, the Lux Hybrid is significantly less expensive than the Hybrid Premier.
