Pure Echo highlights

  • The Pure Echo is My Green Mattress’s most popular and economical bed.
  • My Green Mattress is a company that designs products with parents in mind – the Pure Echo comes in a bunk-bed twin mattress size – it is less thick (8” rather than 9.75”) so it fits nicely in the frame.
  • Additionally, the Pure Echo mattress is offered as single or double-sided. This is particularly helpful for parents as a reverse side can offer peace of mind in instances of spills or accidents not caught by the mattress protector.
  • Handcrafted, all-natural and hypo-allergenic – made of organic cotton and natural wool.

Set up test

The Pure Echo took us just about two minutes to set up.  It was a little heavy but not too bad. This mattress was packaged like a Tootsie Roll and took its full shape immediately after unpackaging. We did notice that the mattress had a slight odor and there were several stains on the bottom (we believe they were from the organic materials inside).

So for our setup test, Pure Echo gets a 8 out of 10.

Motion Transfer Test

Motion transfer is just a fancy way of saying how much movement you feel if your partner is moving around. Ideally, this would be pretty minimal.

Part A - The Humans

The Mattress Advisor motion transfer test is a two-part test. We start by asking both RJ and Asha to lie on the bed, blindfolded, and rate how much movement they felt when their partner was moving around with 10 being no movement at all.

The Pure Echos did a decent job of keeping motion transfer to a minimum. RJ and Asha gave it a collective score of 7.5.

Part B - The Wine

Next, comes our wine test. This is a great visual indicator of how much motion is being transferred from one side of the bed to another.

We had RJ lie down and roll back and forth a few times. We then took a look at how much the wine inside of it moved.

The wine was a little shaky when RJ got on and off the bed, but it remained pretty still while he rolled around! So we gave it a 7.

So for a total motion transfer score, we gave Pure Echo a 7.25 out of 10.

Edge Support Test

When choosing a mattress, you may not think to consider how much support the edge provides. But if you find yourself sleeping on the edge of your bed or use the end to get ready in the morning, you should definitely consider the edge support.

The Mattress Advisor edge support test is a two-part test.

Part A - The Shoe Test

To start, we asked both RJ and Asha to sit on the edge of the bed to tie their shoes. They rated this task on a scale from one to ten, with 10 being “extremely easy, with exceptional edge support.”

The Pure Echo scored a 9.75  for the edge shoe test. RJ and Asha noted the edge felt nice and secure to sit on!

Part B - The Side Test

Next, we had RJ and Asha lie on the edge of the bed in each sleeping position, side, stomach and back, to see if they could sleep comfortably in that section of the bed.

Once again, RJ and Asha found the edges of Pure Echo to be very secure. They could sleep safely on the edge all night long! So for the edge support side test, the Pure Echo scored a solid 10.

So Pure Echo gets a 9.9 out of 10 for edge support.

Pressure Relief Test

When shopping for a mattress, you’ll want to find something that puts minimal pressure on your hips, thighs and shoulders. Let’s take a look at how well the Pure Echo mattress provides pressure relief.

We measure pressure relief by using a pressure mapping film that shows areas of high pressure. Here’s what you need to know: the cool spots are good and the warms spots are bad. The warmer the color, the more pressure is being placed on that area of the body.

We saw some red areas around RJ’s shoulders and hips, meaning that there was a good deal of pressure being placed on those parts of his body.  So we give him a 6.

We saw a red in Asha’s shoulders and some warmer colors in her hips, so we give her a 6.5.

So for a total pressure relief score, Pure Echo gets a 6.25 out of 10.

Spine Alignment Test

Did you know your sleeping posture is just as important as your posture when you are awake? For every mattress we test, we take a look at how well it keeps your spine in a straight line.

We took a close up of both RJ and Asha’s backs to see the alignment. Ideally, you’ll want to see a straight line from the neck all the way to the tailbone.

These spines remained pretty straight on the Pure Echo mattress with only a slight curve towards the base of the neck.

For spine alignment, Pure Echo gets a 9.5 out of 10.

Responsiveness Test

When it comes to getting comfortable on your mattress, responsiveness becomes very important. Responsiveness is just a fancy way of saying how well the mattress adjusts or responds to your sleeping positions while you sleep.

We had RJ and Asha lie in each sleeping position, side, stomach and back. As they changed positions and got settled in, we asked them to rate on a scale from one to ten how quickly and easily the mattress responded to their movement.

RJ and Ahsa scored the Pure Echo mattress a 6.5 out of 10 for responsiveness, noting some difficulties in getting comfortable when adjusting positions

So Pure Echo gets a 6.5 out of 10 for responsiveness.

  2.  Batting: This heavy-weight, organic cotton batting used for insulation.

What Pure Echo customers have to say

  • “Customer service was amazing! The woman I spoke to on the phone (I forgot her name) spent so much time answering my questions and didn’t try to upsell me. The mattress was sent to me within 5 days, which included a weekend! I ordered the mattress protector the next week and it came within 2 days. The pure echo is comfortable, even though it is firmer than what I would have ordered for myself (I ordered this for my 4 year old daughter). All around a great company to deal with.”
  • “Excellent experience so far. Staff answered questions promptly through email and phone. Mattresses arrived quickly and so far my kids are extremely happy with their new non-toxic mattresses. I am thrilled that they can enjoy safe sleep and that we could support a great company.”
  • “Very fast delivery. High quality mattress and topper. The mattress is too firm for me without the topper. No chemical oder so no need to wait to sleep on it. My husband is noticing back improvement after less than a week of sleeping on our new mattress.”

But if you must clean it, use a loose compound of baking soda and citrus juice to make a paste you can rub on stains. You may also sprinkle baking soda on the mattress periodically to absorb odors and then vacuum off.
