Pure Echo Performance Highlights
✅ Pros
- Edge Support: This mattress has some of the sturdiest edges that we’ve ever felt at Mattress Advisor. If you sleep or sit along the edge of the bed, the Pure Echo will help you feel nice and secure.
- Spine Alignment: Our sleep testers had nearly perfect spinal alignment when lying on the Pure Echo mattress. A healthy spine while sleeping can help soothe back pain and body aches.
- Durability: The Pure Echo mattress is built with high-quality materials like steel, cotton, and wool. And with a generous 20-year warranty, My Green Mattress stands behind the longevity of this bed.
- Minimal Off-Gassing: The Pure Echo is one of very few mattresses that doesn’t have any foam layers. Foam mattresses let off a slight odor for the first few days after they’re unboxed, but you won’t have to worry about a strong smell with the natural Pure Echo.
❌ Cons
- Pressure Relief: The Pure Echo’s cotton, wool, and innerspring construction doesn’t provide the level of pressure relief that you’ll find in mattresses with latex or foam layers.
- Responsiveness: The cotton comfort layer doesn’t respond as quickly to movement as most other comfort layers. If you toss and turn, you may find it hard to get comfy quickly on the Pure Echo.
Edge Support
Are you someone who sleeps along the edge of your mattress, or do you sit there to put your shoes on in the morning? If so, you’ll likely do best on a mattress with solid edge support.
To test a mattress’s edge support, we conduct two tests. In the first, we have both of our sleep testers sit along the edges of the bed and put on their shoes to see how stable and sturdy the edges feel. In the second, our testers lie along the edge on their backs, stomachs, and sides and see how secure they feel. For each test, our testers score the performance on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being the best.
The Pure Echo earned a combined score of 9.9/10—nearly perfect! If you need a mattress with reliable edges, this bed is an outstanding option.

Pressure Relief
Side sleepers and people with joint pain need a mattress that melts pressure away from problem areas. Most beds, including foam and latex mattresses, utilize foams for their contouring and pressure-relieving properties. But the Pure Echo avoids these materials in order to provide a non-toxic, hypoallergenic mattress for people with allergies.
To see how well a mattress cushions pressure points, we spread a pressure mapping film along the mattress surface and have our sleep testers lie on top of it. What we look for are areas of high pressure, which are indicated by warm colors, with red areas the most concerning.
As you can see, both of our sleep testers experienced areas of high pressure when lying on their sides. These results earned the Pure Echo a 6.25/10 for pressure relief—not the ideal score for the average side sleeper.

Lumbar Support
Did you know that healthy posture is equally important while you’re sleeping and it is when you’re awake? Poor spinal alignment is one reason why many people wake up with new aches and pains in the morning.
To determine how well a mattress supports healthy spine alignment, we have our sleep testers lie on their sides and we take a look at their spines. What we want to see is a straight line from the base to the tip of the spine. As you can see from the image below, the Pure Echo supported nearly perfect spine alignment, earning it a 9.5/10 in this category—a score that indicates that this bed is a good fit for many people who have back pain.

How Soft is the Pure Echo Mattress?
The Pure Echo is a medium-firm mattress with a firmness level of 7.5/10. This is on the firmer side of medium-firm, so it’s best for people who prefer a firmer feel.

What Sleeping Positions Work With the Mattress?
The Pure Echo is best for stomach and back sleepers who prefer minimal cushion and ample support. Because it doesn’t have foam layers for optimal pressure relief, we don’t recommend it for the average side sleeper.

Does it Sleep Hot?
The Pure Echo mattress is cooler than your average bed. Cotton and wool, the materials used in the cover and comfort layer, are both naturally breathable and moisture-wicking. Paired with an airy layer of innerspring coils and you have a mattress that supports a cool night’s sleep.

How Much Weight can it Support?
My Green Mattress doesn’t have set weight limits on their mattresses. However, thanks to a thick layer of durable 13 ¾ gauge coils, we believe the Pure Echo is a good fit for heavyweight people.
What Foundations or Bed Frames are Compatible?
The Pure Echo Mattress will work on any firm, flat surface. This includes a box foundation, platform bed, slats, adjustable frames, or even the floor. For mattresses placed on slats, My Green Mattress recommends these slats be no more than 3.5 inches apart.

What is it Made Of?
Every material in the Pure Echo innerspring mattress is 100% natural, safeguarding your health and that of the environment. Let’s take a look at what makes up each layer and how that influences the feel and sleeping experience.

- Organic Cotton Quilted Cover: A GOTS organic cotton cover is quilted to a layer of GOTS organic wool for a soft feel and cool surface.
- Organic Cotton Comfort Layer: A thick layer of durable organic cotton batting gently cushions the body.
- Pocketed Coil System Support Layer: An individually-encased coil spring system brings support and limits motion transfer. Tighter coils along the mattress’s edge ensure you can sleep along the entire mattress surface.

Pure Echo Unboxing
The Pure Echo took us just about two minutes to set up. It was a little on the heavy side, but it was easy enough to maneuver with two of us. This mattress was packaged like a Tootsie Roll and took its full shape immediately after unpackaging.
We did notice that the mattress had a slight odor and there were several stains on the bottom (we believe they were from the organic materials inside).
So for our setup test, the Pure Echo earned an 8 out of 10.

Pure Echo Mattress Delivery Information
Every Pure Echo mattress is handmade in the USA after an order is placed. This ensures that your new bed won’t be sitting in a warehouse gathering dust! The mattress is then compressed in a box and shipped directly to your door.
My Green Mattress offers free shipping via FedEx anywhere in the contiguous United States. They do ship to Hawaii, Alaska, and Canada for an additional fee. You can expect your mattress to arrive in two weeks or less from the day you place your order.*
*Due to COVID-19 shipping delays, it may take longer than normal to receive your new mattress. You’ll receive a FedEx tracking number once your mattress ships so you can track its progress.
Pure Echo Mattress Trial Period
The Pure Echo mattress comes with a generous 120-night trial period. Not only is this sleep trial longer than the typical 100-night trial, but My Green Mattress allows you to return your mattress anytime during this window. In comparison, most mattress companies require a 30-day waiting period to ensure that your body has adjusted to a new mattress.
While My Green Mattress allows you to return your bed at any time, we still recommend trying it for at least a couple of weeks before deciding if it’s the bed for you.
The Warranty
The Pure Echo mattress comes with a 20-year warranty, which is twice as long as the industry-standard 10-year warranty. However, there is one aspect to the warranty that isn’t as generous. While most warranties cover indentations of greater than 1”, the Pure Echo bed isn’t covered under warranty until an indentation of greater than 1.5” forms.
This and other mattress warranties cover anything that’s considered a defect in materials or faulty workmanship. To be covered under this warranty, you must use a sturdy foundation that’s in good condition. To file a warranty claim, fill out the online form found on the warranty page.

If you need help finding a charity, their customer service team can help.
The Pure Echo Mattress: Should You Buy It?
The Pure Echo is a natural mattress made without latex so even allergy sufferers can enjoy a non-toxic bed. Made from organic and natural materials, including cotton, wool, and steel, you can be confident that this mattress is good not only for your health, but for the environment, too.
During our in-house testing, the Pure Echo excelled in our spine alignment, cooling, durability, and edge support categories. Because of this performance, we recommend this bed to people with back pain, those who sleep along the edge of the mattress, hot sleepers, and value shoppers.
However, the Pure Echo mattress isn’t the best fit for everyone. For instance, most side sleepers do better with a mattress that excels in pressure relief, which the Pure Echo does not. If this is you, learn about the beds that made our list for the best mattresses for side sleepers.
Additionally, the Pure Echo doesn’t have any foam or latex layers. While this is a great thing for some eco-conscious consumers and people with allergies, others may yearn for the comforting feel of foam. If you love the plush foam cradle, consider opting for one of the beds on our best memory foam mattresses list.

The Pure Echo vs Other Natural Mattresses
There are two primary ways that the Pure Echo stands out amongst other all-natural and organic mattresses. First, it’s less expensive than the average natural bed. For eco-conscious shoppers on a budget, we love the Pure Echo.
The second differentiating factor is that the Pure Echo doesn’t contain any layers of latex foam. Most natural beds use latex in their comfort and transition layers. Latex balances pressure relief and support, it’s naturally cool, and it’s easy to move around on. However, some people have latex allergies, which makes most organic mattresses a no-go. If you’re looking for a natural mattress that’s hypoallergenic, the Pure Echo is a great option.
The Pure Echo vs Other My Green Mattress Beds
My Green Mattress is a mattress company that’s dedicated to providing all-natural, high-quality mattresses for the whole family. Here’s how the Pure Echo compares to their other mattresses.
Pure Echo vs Natural Escape
The Natural Escape mattress is a hybrid bed while the Pure Echo is an innerspring mattress. The primary distinction between the two is that the Natural Escape has a layer of GOLS and OEKO-TEX certified Dunlop latex while the Pure Echo does not. This makes the Natural Escape better for side sleepers and anyone who wants a bit more cushion.
Pure Echo vs Kiwi
Both are natural mattresses with organic cotton, wool, and steel coils, but only the Kiwi has a layer or organic Dunlop latex. This latex layer means the Kiwi brings superior pressure relief, while the Pure Echo’s latex-free construction is a good fit for people with allergies. Both mattresses are on the firmer side of medium-firm, making them best for back and stomach sleepers.
Pure Echo vs Hope Latex
The Hope Latex is a natural Dunlop latex mattress while the Pure Echo is an innerspring bed. Both utilize cotton and wool along the mattress surface for a slight pillow-top feel and natural fire protection. However, the Hope Latex’s latex comfort layer creates a more responsive, pressure-relieving surface when compared to the Pure Echo’s cotton top layer. The Hope Latex works for all sleeping positions and the Pure Echo is best for stomach and back sleepers.
Pure Echo vs Kiwi Bunk Bed Mattress
The Kiwi Bunk Bed mattress is a latex hybrid designed for growing children. This twin-size mattress is just 8” thick, which works well with most bunk beds. The Pure Echo innerspring mattress is somewhat firmer, designed for kids and adults, and comes in more sizes.
Pure Echo vs Emily Crib Mattress
The Emily Crib mattress is an all-natural mattress designed for your baby’s crib. Its organic cotton, wool, and coconut coir pad paired with an innerspring base create a non-toxic mattress option for your baby. The Pure Echo is a natural innerspring created for adults and kids who prefer a firm feel.

Pure Echo Mattress FAQs
Where is the Pure Echo mattress made?
The Pure Echo is handcrafted in the United States.
Is it okay to keep the mattress in its box for awhile?
You must unbox your new mattress within 2 weeks of receiving it or you will void your warranty. Unboxing a compressed mattress is important to ensure that the materials within fully expand.

Do I need to rotate my mattress?
Yes, My Green Mattress recommends rotating your mattress more often than the average bed for optimal performance and longevity. Rotate the Pure Echo 180° every month for the first three months and then once every three months after that.
