Our Impression: Simba Hybrid Mattress is remarkably popular, thanks to a cool, responsive, and pressure-relieving foam/micro-coil construction. It’s the perfect mattress for couples who don’t want to overheat or feel movement from their sleeping partner. It comes at a reasonable price for a new mattress that will last a decade.

Simba Mattress Review Highlights
Simba is a UK-based bed-in–a-box mattress company that launched in 2015. The original Simba hybrid mattress was designed using a ton of data points—as in, data from 10 million sleepers and over 70 mattress prototypes. We wanted to see if the Simba was worth all the hype, so we took a really close look. Keep reading for what we found.
What stands out:
- Patented Coil System: The Simba is a unique mixup of a traditional hybrid mattress. The springs are closer to the top and only 25 mm tall, so it has the cradling feel of foam with a light bounce.
- Simbatex Foam: Simba designed this foam with a breathable open cell structure and cooling graphite-infused formula.
- Recycled Materials: Those conscious of the waste they make will be happy to hear that the Simba Hybrid Mattress is made with 100% recyclable materials.
- Price Match Guarantee: Simba will charge you the lowest price you can find for the Simba Hybrid Mattress, whether online or at high street retailers in the UK.
- Firmness Level: The Simba is a crowd-pleaser in part because of its medium-firm feel. Some call this the Goldilocks firmness level because it’s not too soft and not too firm.

Pros and Cons
✅ Pros
- Motion Transfer: The Simba has a stellar reputation for isolating motion, so it’s a fan favorite among couples.
- Responsiveness: The microcoil layer responds quickly to the most nuanced changes in position.
- Pressure Point Relief: The Simba keeps tension off of high-pressure areas like your shoulders, hips, and tummy.
- Durability: Not only is the Simba backed by a 10-year guarantee, but it’s also constructed with durable materials like titanium alloy coils manufactured in Leeds.
❌ Cons
- Off-Gassing: You may notice that your Simba Hybrid mattress has a mild scent after unboxing, but don’t worry, it’s normal and will dissipate in a few hours.
- Break-In: It may take up to 30 nights to get used to sleeping on your Simba—particularly if you previously slept on an innerspring mattress.
- Shipping: The Simba Hybrid mattress is manufactured in the United Kingdom and Poland and currently doesn’t deliver to customers in the U.S. or Canada.
Motion Transfer
One of the top praises for the Simba Hybrid Mattress is low motion transfer. Couples who share the Simba noted that they hardly felt any jostling from their partner’s tossing and turning. Of course, the mattress doesn’t completely absorb all motion, but we think it deserves top marks for motion isolation.
Responsiveness
Responsiveness is closely related to motion transfer, except instead of measuring how well your sleep surface isolates motion, responsiveness indicates how well the surface keeps up with your movements.
The Simba boasts unusually quick response times, due in part to the microcoil layer close to the top of the mattress. Customers also noted that the Simba is remarkably quiet—so say bye-bye to your old squeaky bed!
Spine Alignment
A king size Simba Hybrid Mattress is made with up to 2,500 microcoils and zoned layers that work to evenly distribute your body weight. The goal of this design is to keep your spine in a neutral position.
Generally, the Simba performs well in this category, but some consumers—particularly stomach sleepers—felt their lower backs were arched out of alignment, which can cause back pain. On the whole, though, the Simba does an above-average job of helping you maintain good sleeping posture.
Where Is It on the Firmness Scale?
Simba says that their original hybrid mattress is medium-firm, but a lot of customers say it feels softer. You definitely sink into the mattress surface, but you won’t feel “trapped” in the top layers. We gave this mattress a 4.5/10 on the firmness scale.

What Sleep Position Does Simba Complement?
The Simba is popular for all sleep positions, especially back sleepers and side sleepers. We found mixed reviews for stomach sleepers, probably reflecting different body types. If you have a bigger figure, the Simba will likely feel softer to you and not provide enough support.
Overall, combination sleepers are the real winners—the Simba’s fast responsiveness makes for the best night’s sleep.

Does It Make You Hot at Night?
The Simba sleeps delightfully cool, even in summer heat. Simba incorporates cooling design into almost every single layer, starting with a breathable mattress cover and finishing with a grooved support layer that improves airflow.

What Is the Weight Limit?
The Simba is designed to support a max body weight of 250 lbs per sleeper. With that said, your body type will determine how the mattress feels. If you weigh more than 180 lbs, the mattress will likely feel softer, and if you weigh under 115 lbs it will probably feel firmer.
Compatible Bed Frames and Bases
The Simba can be stored on any flat, stable bed base. Simba recommends a sturdy box spring, platform bed, adjustable bed, or slatted bed frame with a maximum of 3” between the slats.

Construction
The Simba has a unique five layer construction that includes titanium alloy coils and CertiPUR certified foam layers. It’s sourced and manufactured entirely in Europe, and Simba only works with reputable factories.

- Mattress Cover: Made with a breathable, hypoallergenic knit; includes four handles for easy adjusting
- Simbatex Foam: A proprietary foam that’s infused with heat absorbing graphite
- Conical Pocket Springs: Patented Aerocoil springs that are responsive and keep warm air moving through the mattress so it stays cool
- Memory Foam: A layer of contouring memory foam with extra edge support
- Support Base: High density foam divided into seven ergonomic zones; features horizontal channels that improve airflow

Simba Mattress Unboxing
A lot of customers are intimidated by the idea of setting up their own mattress, but Simba makes it really simple. Just pull the compressed, rolled mattress out of the delivery box, unroll it on your bed frame, remove the plastic packaging, and let it rise.
It usually takes only three hours to reach its full size, but it can take up to 72 hours, depending on how long the mattress has been stored in the box. Also, you may notice a temporary “new mattress” scent. This is nontoxic and goes away after 24–48 hours in a well-ventilated room.

Receiving Simba
Simba customers get free shipping during weekdays, but you’ll need to make sure you’re home to sign for the delivery. On your delivery day, you’ll get a three-hour delivery window and be able to track your driver. The driver will also call you when your delivery is up next.
For $27, you can schedule a specific time slot on a weekday or request a Saturday/Sunday delivery. For$53, you’re able to pick a time slot on the weekend. If you’d like the drivers to carry away your old mattress, you can request that service at checkout for a small fee.
If you live in the Highlands, Northern Ireland, Islands, and remote areas, shipping costs $119. Unfortunately, they currently do not deliver to the U.S. or Canada. For a full list of the countries where Simba is sold, see our FAQ section below.
200-Night Trial
Simba offers their mattress customers a generous 200 night trial period—that’s 2x the length of most mattress sleep trials. They do ask that you sleep on your new mattress for at least 30 days before considering a return, which is about how long it takes for your body to adjust to a new sleeping surface.
Warranty
If you commit to your Simba mattress, it’s protected by a 10-year warranty that covers manufacturing defects—ex: cracks in the foam, broken zippers, excessive sagging. If you notice any of these issues, reach out to the retailer where you bought your mattress (or simbasleep.com if you bought online) within 30 days of noticing the problem.
You’ll need to have your proof of purchase on hand, unless you purchased your mattress directly from Simba, since they store your order details. The retailer or Simba team will walk you through the claim process.
Customer Service
The Simba customer service team is available over web chat or email, Monday–Friday 9 a.m. –5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. –1 p.m. We’re happy to report that we’ve had only friendly encounters with the Simba folks.
Return Policy
If the Simba doesn’t feel quite right for you, you can request a return during the trial period. Simba will issue you a full refund, minus any delivery costs, and schedule a team to pick up your mattress. The refund will be returned to your original payment method within 14 days of pick up.
If you bought your Simba through Amazon, eBay, John Lewis, or any other Simba retailer, reach out to them to initiate a return.
Is Simba for You?
We think the Simba Hybrid Mattress suits just about every kind of sleeper. It’s conforming, supportive, responsive, cooling, and downright cozy. It’s an especially good mattress for couples thanks to its excellent score in our motion isolation test.
Heavier stomach sleepers should be aware that they may not get enough support; if that’s you, take advantage of the trial period. It also may not be a great fit for lighter sleepers.
Compare Simba
Since the Simba is constructed mostly of foam, we’ve compared it with other all-foam mattress brands sold in the UK.
- The Nectar original memory foam mattress is a true medium-firm mattress. It’s also more affordable, but the Simba is cooler and more responsive.
- The eve original mattress is equally as cooling and more affordable than the Simba, but the Simba is more responsive and has better pressure relief.
- The Temper-Cloud has the slow sink that consumers associate with memory foam. It’s not as cooling as the Simba, and almost 2x the cost.
- The Casper original memory foam mattress provides support and comfort that is comparable to the Simba, but it doesn’t sleep as cool.
- The Simba Hybrid Pro is an upgraded version of the original Simba Hybrid. It’s more expensive than the original, but also more plush, responsive, and cooling.
