What Makes the Mint a Great Mattress?

Tuft & Needle created the Mint mattress after listening to feedback from their customers. The Mint was designed as a slightly taller and softer mattress than the original Tuft & Needle. It provides better pressure relief, particularly for side sleepers, and enhanced edge support, which is beneficial if you tend to sleep toward the edges of the bed.

The Mint is also going to be better for people who tend to sleep hot. It’s made with 30% more graphite gel which absorbs heat up to five times more than similar materials.

Even with all the added benefits, the Tuft & Needle Mint is still very fairly priced and boasts glowing customer reviews.

Highlights from Our Testing

Check out some of our testing moments to learn more about what makes the Mint a great bed.

Setting Up the Mint

The Tuft & Needle Mint mattress took us just about a minute and a half to set up. We noticed a slight odor while unboxing the Mint. Otherwise, setup was a walk in the park. See the video below to check it out.

Testing Motion Isolation

If you have a sleeping partner, the results of this test should play an important role in your purchasing decision! When your partner rolls around during the night or gets up for a bathroom break, you don’t want to be disturbed by their movements.

We put this to the test by having one participant lay blindfolded on the bed, while the other climbs into bed, rolls around, and gets out of the bed.

The Mint did a decent job of keeping motion transfer to a minimum, so RJ and Asha gave this test a collective score of 8.25 out of 10. Next up, we test this with a wine glass. Take a look at the video below to see this in motion!

Measuring Pressure Relief

One of the most important factors in a mattress is pressure relief. Why? Because no one wants to wake up with aches and pains!

Take a look below to see our pressure relief test results for RJ and Asha. We mainly saw areas of low pressure (blues and greens on the heat map), though Asha had some red tones in her hips and shoulders showing slight pressure. Overall, we gave the Mint an 8 out of 10 for pressure relief, which is a pretty great score!

Looking at Spine Alignment

For a healthy and restorative night’s sleep, it’s critical that a mattress can support proper spine alignment. You want to see a straight line from the base of the spine to the top of the neck.

Both of our tester’s had pretty straight spine’s, so the Mint received a nearly perfect score of 9.5 out of 10.

Customer Reviews of the Mint

“The Mint mattress is great. Soft with a little bounce. I’m a petite 118 lbs. back/side sleeper and my 155 lbs. boyfriend is a stomach sleeper. We both like this mattress. Have been sleeping on it for only two weeks but I have high hopes that it will last. Good price. Fast shipping. Easy installation.” – Karen

“I had trigger point back pain for years. After one night of being supported properly on the T&N Mint mattress, my back pain was significantly reduced. It’s almost non existent now after a few weeks. Best mattress I’ve ever owned.” – Wade

“I had misgivings about spending the extra $$ for the Mint mattress. I was really concerned about the extra thickness vs the regular T&N working on an adjustable base despite customer service assuring me that it would work. The Mint arrived in record time. Upon arrival, I got it on my adjustable base and I set it up. Finally it was time to go to bed (about 12 hours later) and when I got into bed I couldn’t believe the comfort level. It was as if I had been sleeping on it for years. Something I didn’t have after 3 months with the Nectar mattress. I have Fibromyalgia, degenerative disc disease, and osteoarthritis and I am totally comfortable on this mattress and it works well with the adjustable base. I also want to mention that I am 65 and I set the Mint up by myself. It’s simple!” – Rose

What’s Inside the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress?

The Mint’s proprietary Adaptive® Foam works to draw heat from your body and disperse it out of the mattress. It’s ideal for sleepers of any size or weight because the more pressure you put on it, the more it reacts to support you. The Tuft & Needle Mint is made with three adaptive foam layers and covered by a charcoal knitted cover.

Inside the Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress
  1. Tuft & Needle Adaptive® Foam: This patented top foam layer is made with 30% more heat-wicking graphite than the original Tuft & Needle mattress. Tuft & Needle Adaptive® Foam was designed to feel comfy while still providing great pressure relief.
  2. Adaptive Transition Layer: Made with Tuft & Needle Adaptive® Foam and infused with ceramic gel beads that absorb 5x more heat than conventional blue gel products.

Tuft & Needle Mint Mattress FAQs

How does the 100-night trial work?

When your Tuft & Needle Mint mattress arrives at your doorstep, you will have 100 nights to decide if the mattress is right for you. If you decide to return the mattress, you’ll simply contact Tuft & Needle’s customer support team and they will walk you through the return process. A Tuft & Needle representative will arrange for your mattress to be picked up from your home and donated to a local charity in need.

Note that orders placed through Amazon will also have a 100-night trial period but must be returned through Amazon.

T&N is unable to refund the shipping fees for the original delivery in Alaska or Hawaii.

How long will it take for my Mint mattress to be delivered?

Most customers in the lower 48 states can expect their new Tuft & Needle mattress to arrive in 2–5 business days from the day they order with free shipping.

Do I need to be home when my Tuft & Needle Mint mattress is delivered?

A signature is not required to receive your Tuft & Needle Mint mattress unless you’re shipping to a place of business, in which case, someone will need to sign for the box. If you’d like to require a signature for a home delivery, just let Tuft & Needle know and they can arrange for that.

If your mattress is being delivered via FedEx Ground standard shipping, the mattress box will be left at your front door or wherever large packages are usually left. In some locations, the driver may not leave the mattress so they can safely re-deliver it the next business day.

Can I finance my Tuft & Needle Mint mattress?

You can! Tuft & Needle offers financing options through Affirm that allow you to pay for your mattress over time. You’ll have the option to select Affirm financing at checkout. If you’re approved, you will be given loan options for 3, 6, or 12 months.

Note that financing through Affirm is not available in West Virginia and Iowa.

Will the Mint mattress have a break-in period?

It can take up to 30 days to fully break in your new mattress. During this time, your body will get used to the new mattress feel and the mattress will have time to fully take shape and provide all the benefits it was designed to offer. But the good news is you have plenty more than 30 days in your trial period!

Is the Mint mattress eco-friendly?

All the foams in the Tuft & Needle Mint mattresses are CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning they meet some of the most rigorous standards for emissions, content, performance, and durability.

Can I clean my Mint mattress?

While the cover cannot be removed, the mattress can be spot cleaned using a small amount of mild detergent and water and gently dabbing the cover, rather than rubbing it. Make sure the cleaned area is completely dry before placing sheets and blankets back on the mattress.
