Read on to learn why the Parachute Down Pillow has a reputation as one of the best hotel-quality pillows you can buy.

Parachute Down Pillow: What We Love

There’s more to love about the Parachute Down Pillow than its opulent comfort and idyllic combination of huggable plushness and comfy support. Here are my 3 favorite things about this pillow.

Multiple Firmness Options

The Parachute Down Pillow comes in 3 firmness densities—soft, medium, and firm. The softest pillow is the lowest density, resulting in a soft, squishy, less lofty pillow. It’s this firmness level that’s best for stomach sleepers. The medium firmness balances plush contouring and support, best for side and back sleepers. The firm option is lofty and supportive, best for side sleepers who prefer a thick pillow.

Ethically Sourced Down

What I love most about the Parachute Down Pillow is that it’s Responsible Down Standard (RDS) certified. An RDS certification means that the down was ethically sourced, something that’s essential for animal lovers and eco-conscious consumers. And with this RDS duck down sourced from Europe, you can rest assured that this is some of the best down available.

Lightweight and Moldable

Weighing only 1 pound, the Parachute Down Pillow is light-as-a-feather. If you’re a combination sleeper who moves your pillow around at night, you know how important it is to have a pillow that seamlessly changes positions with you. Thanks to this pillow’s high concentration of down, it’s incredibly lightweight and easy to move around with.

What’s more, the squishy down fill readily molds to your perfect shape. It’s also ultra-huggable, making it an excellent pillow for hugging as well as resting your head on. Unlike most other down pillows, the Parachute Down Pillow is responsive, quickly puffing back to size when you move around. This means you can hug it, fold it, and change from one position to the next without any interruption to your sleep.

Parachute Pillow Construction

The Parachute Down Pillow is made using only the highest quality materials. The inside contains all-natural European white down. With 85% down and 15% feather and down fibers, the Parachute Down Pillow has unparalleled plushness. The higher the down percentage, the squishier and more durable the pillow—and 85% down is just about the highest that you’ll find.

Another indicator that this pillow is the utmost in luxury is its 750 fill power. Fill power directly correlates to the fluffiness of a pillow, with a higher fill power translating to a fuller, more luxurious pillow. Fill power typically falls between 300 to 900, with few pillows over 700. Thanks to the generous 750 fill, the Parachute Pillow has a 7” loft that gently compresses, making it work well for every sleeping position.

The plush down is wrapped in a cotton sateen shell that’s silky smooth and does an excellent job of stopping any stray feathers from poking through. Another benefit of a cotton cover is that it allows ample air circulation, helping to keep your pillow fresh, cool, and clean. I still recommend using a pillowcase to safeguard your pillow from any damage!

Best For/Not Best For

With 3 firmness levels, the Parachute Down Pillow is an excellent option for any down pillow lover, no matter your sleeping position

The medium density pillow is the perfect side sleeper pillow. It’s wonderfully soft and supportive, offering the right amount of neck support all night long. For a medium down pillow, the Parachute Down Pillow is pretty lofty, so it may offer too much height for smaller back sleepers. However, larger people will likely enjoy the medium pillow for back sleeping and the firm for side sleeping.

With a lower density down fill, the soft option will work well for stomach sleepers. The down within is very squishy and flattens enough to keep the neck from being bent backwards. The soft is also a good fit for smaller back sleepers who like a soft pillow with minimal support.

As for the firm pillow, understand that it is both incredibly fluffy and thick. The generous loft is going to be best for side sleepers who find most pillows too thin. Larger side sleepers are the ones that are likely to love this generous fill level.

Combination sleepers and anyone who tosses and turns at night will enjoy how light and responsive this pillow is. You can easily switch positions, taking it with you and molding it to your preferred shape.

The only sleepers that I would caution against the Parachute Down Pillow are those who sleep exceptionally hot. Down pillows can absorb body heat. Because this pillow has a breathable cotton shell, it doesn’t sleep very hot, but it’s not a cooling pillow. For a cooler type of pillow, check out Parachute’s Down Alternative Pillow with cooling microfiber.

Customer Reviews

  • “Hands down, this is the most comfortable pillow. I’ve been able to have a full night’s sleep so far. And my snoring has lightened up. I like how the pillow goes back to shape easily.” -Jenny C.
  • “This is the best pillow I have ever owned. I love how soft it is! I do wish I had purchased the firm vs. medium down pillow since it does squish down and flatten a bit. I still love it, though.” -Lori M.
  • “This is my first down pillow and every time my head hits the pillow, I legit feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud. My head sinks into the medium fill perfectly since the down adjusts to you. I start on my back, but also sleep on my side and stomach throughout the night and the medium fill is just right for me. You won’t regret it!” -Autumn T.

Parachute Down Pillow FAQs

Q.

How do I clean the Parachute Down Pillow?

A.

Parachute recommends dry cleaning to keep your pillow feeling new for years to come. However, the pillow is machine washable, so you can launder it at home. Wash with cool water on the delicate cycle using mild liquid detergent. Tumble dry low using wool dryer balls for the best results.

Q.

Do I need to use a pillowcase with my new down pillow?

A.

With the silky smooth cotton sateen shell, it might be tempting to sleep on the pillow without a cover. However, a pillowcase protects from dust mites and other allergens. As such, we always recommend that you use a pillowcase with your Parachute pillow
