Having trouble falling asleep? What about staying asleep? Trouble with rest can be extremely frustrating; it has an impact on your mood, productivity, and even memory. Taking prescription drugs to fix your sleep problems can result in a dependence, subsequent withdrawal, and side effects. So, what is the solution?
Our friends at Remrise have offered a personalized sleep solution with their various line of all natural sleep supplements. They aim to improve sleep by addressing your sleep issues with a rotating formula tailored to you. I got the opportunity to try these out for a week, so keep reading to find out how they work and if they work.
What Is Remrise?
Remrise has a collection of 5 different sleep supplement formulas made from natural, plant-based ingredients—from western herbs and amino acids to eastern Chinese herbs. Each formula is drug-free, non-GMO, and vegan:
- Rise & Shine: Works to calm your mind and cool your body, so you can sleep throughout the night.
- Power Off: De-stresses to make it easier to fall asleep and get restorative rest.
- At Ease: Puts your mind at ease to reduce and eliminate restlessness.
- Peace of Mind: Unwinds overthinking minds to eliminate daytime drowsiness from lack of sleep at night.
- Chilled Out: Grounds restless energy by reducing agitation and keeps you asleep all night.
Wondering how you’re going to choose between five great formulas? Remrise has a sleep quiz on their website to help you figure it out. It takes about two minutes and asks you questions like if you sleep hot, how vividly you remember your dreams, and whether you wake up before your alarm.
After taking the quiz, I received a 7-day box of Power Off to try out. But before I get into my experience, let’s talk about what’s inside these supplements and other product specs.
Power Off features natural, plant-powered ingredients for you to take on a daily basis. The formula varies each day to target different aspects of your sleep issues and keep you from building a tolerance, but they will be some combination of these main ingredients:
- Spine Date Seed (Suan Zao Ren): A sedative that puts the mind at rest.
- Albizza Flower (He Huan Hua): Has a calming effect on emotions, invigorates the blood, and optimizes the flow of energy.
- Cyperus Rhizome (Xiang Fu): Decreases the body’s response to stress and tension by promoting circulation.
- GABA: An amino acid that reduces anxiety and improves mood.
- 5Ht: A sleep aid that boosts mood, promotes weight loss, and decreases aching joints.
- L-Theanine: Found in green tea, this amino acid induces a relaxed, meditative state.
Power Off also includes
- Salvia Root (Dan Shen)
- Magnolia Bark (Hou Po)
- Reishi (Ling Zhi)
- Polygala (Yuan Zhi)
- Tart Cherry
- Magnesium Glycinate
- Calcium Citrate
- Valerian Root
- Hops Flower
Note: Remrise products are not FDA approved, but their manufacturing facilities are registered with and regulated by the FDA. We here at Mattress Advisor are sleep experts, not doctors. If you’d like to give Remrise a try, please contact your physician with any questions or concerns.
Each formula is $55 for 28 days of pills.

Your order of Remrise sleep aids comes in a box that holds your supplements and directions on how to take them. The supplements are individually packaged and have “Day” labels on them, so you know when you take each packet. The formula for each day is different, so it is crucial that you keep track of the days in order.
Each pill package contains four pills that you must take each day to see the effects of Remrise.
Now, let’s get into it.
The Day 1 pills are supposed to reset your sleep. They achieve this by relaxing your body and calming your mind to give you a deep, restorative rest.
The first thing I noticed when I opened the packet was how big the pills were. I rarely ever had to take pills that big in my life for medical reasons, and I was nervous that I had to swallow four of them.
Luckily, they went down without any problem.
Those instructions I was talking about earlier give you a routine to follow when you take your supplements:
- Step 1: Take the pills 1 hour before going to sleep. Put all of your work away, dim the lights, and begin to relax.
- Step 2: Thirty minutes before bed, put all screens away. Read, write, or relax instead.
- Step 3: Five minutes before bed, take 5 deep relaxing breaths, and calm your body from head to toe.
After following these steps, it took me about 10 minutes to fall asleep, and I woke up three times throughout the night (something I had been doing a lot the week before), but I was able to roll over and go back to sleep quickly each time. I woke up to my alarm the next morning feeling a bit drowsy. The drowsiness faded as I got ready for the day.
Day 2 pills are supposed to restore your sympathetic nervous system to soothe your body, so your night of sleep is more rejuvenating.
That night, I took the pills at the same time I did for day 1, for the sake of consistency, meaning I went to sleep at the same time. I found myself really liking the bedtime wind-down routine the Power Off pills had set in place.
On night 2, I feel asleep quicker and only woke up once throughout the night. I woke up naturally about 20 minutes before my alarm was supposed to go off with no drowsiness.
The Day 3 pills seek to help your body relearn how to let go, easily fall asleep, and stay asleep. And I found this to be true.
On Day 3, I took the pills at the same time as I did the previous night, again, for consistency sake. I felt way more drowsy before bed than I did the previous two nights and almost wanted to cut my 30 minutes of reading short. I fell asleep in about the same amount of time as I did on Day 2 and only woke up once at night.
The next morning, I arose about 20 minutes before my alarm with minimal drowsiness.
The Day 4 pack aims to seal in the benefits from the previous day. At this point, I settled into my new nighttime routine easily, taking the pills at the same time and feeling drowsy a bit earlier.
Again, I fell asleep more quickly and only woke up once throughout the night. I got up the next morning feeling more refreshed than I had the previous two days.
Days 5-7 use a rotational cycle of ingredients to reinforce healthier sleep cycles. I combined these days into one section because each night of sleep was largely the same. As I took the supplements and began my nightly wind-down routine, my body recognized that it was time for bed. I didn’t take the full hour before I went to sleep. I woke up feeling well-rested rather than groggy.
Pros and Cons
After my week was up, I sat down and ironed out the advantages and disadvantages of using Remrise.
|All Natural: Instead of a synthetically created medicine, every ingredient in Remrise is all natural and non-GMO. This cuts out the harmful side effects and feelings of withdrawal that come with other sleep supplements.||Large Pills: Because the supplements are packed with these natural ingredients, they manifest into rather large pills. Actually ingesting the Remrise supplements was my least favorite part of this experience.|
|Enforces a Good Routine: In order for your pills to work to their best ability, Remrise created a bedtime wind-down routine that is a best practice for better sleep. I believe this routine is part of the reason I slept better.||Not FDA Approved: Though Remrise is 100% all natural, the supplements are not FDA approved. This can make some people wary. However, their manufacturers do work closely with the FDA during development and testing.|
|Customizable Experience: No matter the reason for your sleep problems, Remrise has a formula tailored to you. Not only that but the supplement formula varies, so there is no tolerance built up.|
It’s safe to say that my experience with Remrise was an overall positive one. Each night, my sleep steadily improved in both the time it took to fall asleep and how long I stayed asleep. With an improvement like that in just a week, imagine what a month could do. I might explore that for myself, but in the meantime, try Remrise for yourself.
