Robin Mattress Review In Real Life

We checked in with Ally who bought the Robin mattress after one night, one week, and one month of sleeping on it

Robin Mattress

We find that most people leave reviews about their new mattress after only a few nights of sleeping on it, or sometimes even before they set it up…super helpful, right? This doesn’t give you any insight on how they feel after sleeping on the mattress for a while, which is the important part. So we asked real people a few questions about how they chose their mattress and what their experience was like after one night, one week, and one month on the mattress.

While every sleeper is different, we hope this sleeper’s mattress journey will help you in your own search.

Meet Ally

Ally is a middle school chorus teacher in her late-twenties that lives in Raleigh, NC. As the oldest for four siblings, Ally has been sleeping on a mattress passed down in her family for years. In fact, it came from her Grandma. She’s not even sure what brand it is.

Headshot of Ally Thomas

Ally is strictly a side sleeper so pressure relief in her hips and shoulders matters to her when it comes to finding a mattress. She has no special sleeping conditions (such as a bad back, etc) and sleeps alone. However, she often works from her bed so support matters!

The selection and buying process

MA: Why were you in the market for a new mattress?

A: My former mattress was getting old, and I was ready to move from a full to a queen size.

MA: What factors did you consider when buying a mattress?

A: Size, firmness, materials, motion transfer, and edge support. I am a side sleeper, but I also work a lot from bed so I was interested in the overall support and comfort.

MA: Did you compare any other brands? If so, what were they?

A: I spent some time looking at the Brooklyn Bowery, as well as Tuft and Needle.

MA: What ultimately led you to purchase the Robin mattress?

A: Materials. I liked the combination of the 7-zone pocket spring system with the plush comfort topper.

MA: What was your mattress buying experience like?

A: The overall process was pretty simple. This mattress is sold at a couple different stores (Pottery Barn, West Elm and Williams-Sonoma) but the process is pretty much the same at all of them.

MA: Overall, how would you describe your first night on the Robin mattress?

A: Wonderful. I slept deeply and woke up without any pain or stiffness.

MA: Did you notice any difference in how you felt when you woke up?

A: Yes. As a side sleeper, I often wake up feeling soreness at different pressure points, but after my first night on the Robin, I noticed a lack of bodily tension and pain.

Mattress was delivered on 7/2/2018; Second interview was conducted on 8/1/2018.

MA: Overall, how would you describe your first month on the Robin mattress?

A: Now that I’ve slept on this mattress for a month, I’m regretting not investing in a nicer mattress sooner. It really has made a change in the overall quality of my sleep in ways I did not expect.

A: Yes, perfect combination for me.

MA: Do you have any new complaints about the Robin? Or anything you would change if you could?

A: Only that it would be nice if it isolated motion even more. If I’ve balanced a tray of food on the other side of the bed, and moved around, I’ve noticed it does transfer motion more than I initially realized.

MA: Do you still feel like the Robin mattress was worth the price you paid?

A: Definitely.

MA: Do you think you’ll keep your Robin mattress?

A: Yes.
