About the Materials

Cotton

Cotton is a common bedding material due to its ability to last long and keep you cool. Saatva specifically uses Fair Trade Certified™ cotton, which meets standards to ensure economic and social responsibility for farmers.

Down Alternative Fiber

Down alternative fiber is a hypoallergenic alternative to traditional down, such as duck or geese feathers. This is often used as a filling in comforters to give them a fluffy feel.

Lyocell

Lyocell is a type of rayon with moisture-wicking properties. It uses almost half as much water as cotton during the production process, making it an eco-friendly alternative.

They currently don’t offer exchanges so they recommend returning your comforter and purchasing your desired item separately.

Is the Saatva All-Year Down Alternative Comforter Right for You?

Now that you have a better understanding of what the Saatva All-Year Down Alternative Comforter is made of and how it performed in our lab you can decide if it matches your sleep preferences. We think most sleeping positions will work well with this comforter and that it does an excellent job of keeping hot sleepers cool. It’s also made from eco-friendly materials, making it a great choice for environmentally conscious individuals.

Since it only comes in a white option, we wouldn’t recommend this comforter for those wanting a darker color. Saatva does, however, sell duvet covers in ivory and gray, so you can change up your comforter’s color or buy a duvet cover from another company in your desired color. This comforter is also a bit heavy, which may make switching positions difficult for combination sleepers and can be undesirable for those who get claustrophobic easily.

Saatva All-Year Down Alternative Comforter FAQs

Saatva recommends machine washing your comforter in cold water on a gentle cycle. Tumble dry low and remove it right away to avoid wrinkles. They also suggest avoiding bleach and using mild, organic detergents.

If you no longer want your down alternative comforter, you can return it for a full refund during the first 45 days after it arrives. Unlike some companies, Saatva won’t charge you a restocking fee. They do ask that you wash your comforter before returning it.

To initiate a return, email info@saatva.com or call 855-644-2125. The customer service team can also help those who received the comforter as a gift navigate the return process.

Saatva uses a 200-thread count since it tends to be more breathable than other thread counts. Higher thread counts can be more prone to trapping heat and less comfortable for hot sleepers.
