Key Similarities
- Firmness options: Both mattresses are available in three firmness levels. The Saatva Classic is available in plush soft (3/10 for firmness), luxury firm (6/10), and firm (8/10). The Brooklyn Signature’s options are plush (4/10), medium (6/10), and firm (8/10).
- Cooling: As hybrid mattresses constructed with breathable innerspring coils, the Saatva Classic and Brooklyn Signature provide a cool night’s sleep.
- Construction: These beds both consist of an innerspring base topped with memory foam, though the Saatva also boasts a 3” Euro pillow top.
Key Differences
- Feel: The Brooklyn Bedding Signature has a slight hugging memory foam feel compared to the Saatva’s luxury pillow top softness, which doesn’t provide the same cradling sensation.
- Delivery: Saatva provides white-glove delivery, which means the company will fully set up your mattress for you; Brooklyn Bedding ships its bed to you in a box.
- Eco-conscious construction: Only Saatva uses organic and recycled materials in its construction, making it a better choice for eco- and health-conscious consumers.

Brooklyn Bedding Mattress Review Highlights
- Pressure Relief: The Brooklyn Signature earned a near-perfect score in pressure relief, which means it contours to pressure points such as hips and shoulders. This is particularly important for side sleepers.

- Edge Support: Extra-strong coils line the perimeter of this mattress, earning it a 9/10 score in edge support. This is useful for couples, seniors, and people who regularly sit on the edge of the bed.
- Incredible Value: Brooklyn Bedding is in charge of every stage of manufacturing and sales. This results in cost savings and a more affordable hybrid bed.
- Other Options: You have many more mattress options to choose from at Brooklyn Bedding, including the Aurora Luxe Cooling, Sedona Elite, and the Titan Plus Luxe for plus-size sleepers.

Compare the Construction
What exactly makes these two hybrid mattresses distinct from one another? Let’s look inside each bed, layer by layer, to get some insight.

Inside the Saatva Classic Mattress:
The Saatva Classic contains five layers that work together to provide a supportive yet comfortable sleep experience.
The 3” organic cotton pillow top adds a luxury cushioned feel. The type of foam used in this layer differentiates the plush, luxury firm, and firm options. Softer foam gives you the feeling of being cradled and sinking into the mattress, while more dense foam makes you feel like you’re sleeping “on” the bed instead of “in” it. The quilted cover gives you more lumbar support beneath your back and hips.
Next comes the Saatva’s back-support layer, with high-density memory foam and additional reinforcement with supportive wire along the middle third of the bed. This layer works alongside the zoned coil system below, creating targeted support through the midsection but a cradling feel along the shoulders.
Saatva is one of the only mattresses with a dual-coil design. Underneath the zoned coils is a sturdy base of recycled steel coils. The coil-on-coil construction creates a bouncy feel, which is great for nighttime resituating and adult activities. This design also allows for generous airflow and a cool night’s sleep.
- Quilted Euro Pillow Top: A 3” cushiony pillow top provides pressure relief for side sleepers, while lumbar quilting offers extra support. The organic cotton cover is breathable and promotes cooler sleep.
- Memory Foam: CertiPUR-US Certified high-density memory foam cradles and supports the middle third of the body. This layer also includes Saatva’s Lumbar Zone Active Spinal Wire, which provides extra support where you need it most.
- Pocketed Coils: The Saatva’s first coil layer has sturdier coils along the center third of the bed, delivering outstanding lumbar support. Its pocketed recycled steel coils balance responsiveness and support.
- Dense Edge Support: High-density foam rails line the edges of the mattress to minimize sagging.
- Steel Coil Base: A bottom layer of coils allows for increased airflow, sturdier support, and a springier and more responsive feel.

Inside the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid Mattress
The Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid mattress combines three layers of foam, individually pocketed coils, and a breathable cover to provide an excellent mattress for all types of sleepers. You can purchase a cooling cover for a small additional fee.
Beneath the quilted cover is the first layer of memory foam. This hyper-elastic comfort foam measures 1” in firm beds and 1.5” in soft and medium beds. The foam used in this layer gives you the cradling feeling typical of memory foam, while still being responsive. It’s also infused with cooling gel, making it a good choice for hot sleepers.
Next is a high-density polyurethane foam layer, which provides additional support. This layer is 2” in firm beds and 1” in soft and medium beds. This is followed by a thick layer of pocketed coils that give the springy, responsive qualities of an innerspring bed.
A high-density base layer adds extra support beneath the coil layer. This sturdy construction makes the Brooklyn Bedding a good bed for heavier sleepers.
- Quilted Cover (0.5”): A premium quilted cover that’s soft and breathable. You can opt for an even cooler cover for an additional charge.
- Comfort Foam (1-1.5”): Responsive memory foam infused with cooling gel offers pressure relief and regulates sleep temperature.
- Transition Foam (1-2”): High-density polyfoam provides deep compression support.
- Pocketed Coils (6”): Individually pocketed coils improve responsiveness and deliver extra support for various body types.
- Support Foam (.25”): A dense layer of base foam provides support for the coils above and improves durability.

Spine Alignment
Saatva is the better fit for back pain sufferers, as it earned a perfect score of 10/10 in this category. This comes as no surprise, given the level of care Saatva puts into lumbar support in this mattress.
Pressure Relief
Pressure relief is important for side and combination sleepers, as well as anyone with arthritis. Both mattresses offer exceptional pressure relief, though Brooklyn Bedding earned a slightly higher score thanks to the cushioning of its memory foam top layer.
Be sure to consider the firmness level if you want the best pressure relief, particularly if you’re a side sleeper. Lighter-weight side sleepers may enjoy the soft in Brooklyn Bedding and plush in Saatva, while average-weight side sleepers and combination sleepers should consider Brooklyn Bedding’s medium and Saatva’s luxury firm.
Edge Support
You can’t go wrong with either the Saatva or Brooklyn Bedding when it comes to edge support. Both beds are specifically constructed to provide superior support for getting out of bed or sitting along the edge. The Saatva scored a perfect 10/10 in this category–just one of the reasons it’s our top choice for seniors.
Which Is the Best Mattress for You?
Given the many similarities between the Saatva Classic and the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid—including multiple firmness options and a hybrid design—many sleepers would be happy with either mattress. However, there are differences that may make one of these beds a better fit.
We recommend the Brooklyn Bedding Signature Hybrid over the Saatva Classic for shoppers on a budget and people who like the hugging feel of memory foam. But if you have back pain or want a more classic luxury pillow top feel, the Saatva Classic is the better pick.
Both mattresses are excellent options for hot sleepers, people who toss and turn at night, and sleepers of every body size and sleeping position. Each offers a risk-free sleep trial and free shipping—but as a luxury mattress brand, you can expect a higher-end experience with Saatva. This includes free mattress setup and a full year-long trial period, compared to a 120-night trial with Brooklyn Bedding.
