How Does Botox Work?
Botox is able is make muscles relax for as long as several months. When injected into facial muscles, it inhibits the release of acetylcholine (ACh). ACh is a chemical messenger inside of our bodies that causes muscles to contract. By limiting its release, Botox causes muscles to relax and wrinkles to temporarily fade away.

- Do not exercise vigorously the same day that you get Botox injections. Strenuous activity within 24 hours can cause the toxin is escape the muscle and travel elsewhere.
- Use ibuprofen or aspirin to reduce swelling instead of applying ice. Pressing too hard can displace the toxin. If you do use ice, apply it very gently.
- Sleep on your back with your upper body elevated until swelling has gone down to avoid excess swelling.
- Avoid touching the area to limit the risk of the toxin spreading to other places.
