Trying to find a new pillow can prove to be an arduous process. But with a staple brand like Tempurpedic who consistently delivers quality products, you can take comfort knowing you’re in good hands.

While we’ve reviewed a few Tempur-pedic mattresses, we were particularly excited to test out their newest pillow, the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pro. In this review, we break down everything from materials to price to help you decide if this is the best pillow for you.

What’s Inside the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pro Pillow?

Every inch of the Tempur-Cloud Cooling pillow was designed with breathability and comfort in mind.

The pillow’s construction starts off with a single piece of Tempurpedic’s proprietary TEMPUR material that’s designed to provide lasting support and cushioning to your head and neck. With a medium-firm feel, this TEMPUR material also creates a responsive feel that easily adapts to your movements. Within this memory foam pillow lies two layers of dual-sided cooling gel, which provides cooling comfort to both sides of the pillow.

To complete the masterpiece that is the Tempur-Cloud Cooling pillow, a stretchy ‘high performance’ panel cover encompasses the outer layer of the pillow.

Best For/Not Best For

With a nearly 5 star customer rating, the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pro Pillow is clearly very well-loved. But it may not be a perfect fit for everyone––here’s who we think will benefit the most from the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pillow, and who we think should keep exploring their options.

You’ll like the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pillow if…

  • You are a back sleeper. While this pillow is designed to work for all sleep positions, the medium firmness and loft are especially ideal for those who rest on their back.
  • You’re a fan of memory foam and love the way it hugs your body.
  • You are a side sleeper. Because of this pillow’s enveloping nature, it cradles your neck, providing the right amount of support and cushioning to sleep comfortably on your side.
  • You are a combination sleeper. This pillow was made with adaptive support in mind, and is designed to move with you as you toss and turn. As a combination sleeper myself, I changed positions frequently throughout the night while sleeping on this pillow, and it was able to quickly adjust to my movements each time.
  • You value premium materials. True to Tempurpedic’s nature, this pillow is on the pricier side, but the high-quality materials ensure you get your money’s worth.
  • You like having options. You have the choice between a ‘Hi’ and ‘Lo’ height at checkout, allowing you to customize the loft of your pillow to your liking.

Keep looking if…

  • You are a stomach sleeper. Although this pillow says it can accommodate every sleep position, the loft still may be too high for some, causing you to strain your neck when resting face down. The shorter of the two height options, the ‘Lo’ model, has a 5” loft, which is still too high for stomach sleepers.
  • You’re on a strict budget.
  • You want a pillow that’s fully machine washable.
  • You prefer the feel of fluffy, or down, pillows.

My Sleep Experience

I was lucky enough to take the Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pillow home with me, and give it a test run.

I could go on and on about this pillow, but for the sake of time, I’ll keep things short. The Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pillow comes compressed in a bag, and puffs to size only a few minutes after opening, which is a sign of high-quality, durable materials.

Although Tempurpedic doesn’t claim this pillow to be cool-to-the-touch, I immediately felt a cooling sensation when I laid my head on the surface. The pillow quickly molded to my shape, cradling and cushioning my head and neck for an ultra-cozy, but still supportive feel.

To be candid, the outer layer of this pillow is so soft, that for the first couple nights I didn’t even use a pillow sheet––I just slept on the surface of the pillow as is. I was really able to soak up the cooling comfort this way, and even when I finally used a pillowcase nights later, the pillow still felt cool against my head. And if you’re a hot sleeper like me (make sure to check out our best cooling mattress guide too), then you’re familiar with the annoying process of constantly having to flip your pillow over to the cool side. I’m happy to report that sleeping on the Tempur-Cloud pillow was one of the only times I’ve never had to do this.

As far as sleeping positions go, I am usually a bit of a combination sleeper and alternate between my side and back. This pillow adjusted to my changes in movement quickly, and it took no time for me to get comfortable in each position. My head and neck also felt well-supported on both my back and side.

I typically never rest on my stomach, but this pillow was so comfortable that I actually gave it a try for a few hours and ended up loving it. I still don’t think this pillow is the best option for stomach sleepers because of its loft, but I’d be lying if I didn’t mention how comfy it felt.

Even though this pillow is pricey, I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking to take their sleep experience to the next level. I slept better on this pillow than I have in months, not sure if that’s because of the cooling features or cozy feel, but either way, I had a great night’s sleep on it every time.

Pros and Cons

When making a purchasing decision, it’s helpful to consider the great qualities and the not-so-great aspects. Check out the chart below to weigh your options.

Pros Cons
Adaptive Support: This pillow’s medium feel lends it to support all sleep positions, and judging by the comfort I felt, I’d say this is spot on. Costly: The Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pro is one of the most expensive pillows on the market. It’s almost twice the cost of typical pillows, as it is a luxury pillow. This pillow is a good investment in your sleep, but if you can’t get past the sticker shock, there’s alternatives like the Leesa Foam Pillow.
Pressure Relief: The memory foam nature of this pillow cradles the head and neck, delivering excellent pressure relief. This is a great pillow for alleviating neck pain and for side sleeping, as its extra soft surface cushions the neck nicely and provides gentle contouring. Somewhat Heavy: The all-foam construction of this pillow makes it a bit heavier than most.
Sleeps Cool: This may be my favorite feature of this pillow, because it really does feel cool. The dual-sided gel layers make it super breathable, and creates a cooling sensation that feels rather soothing.  No Trial Period or Returns: This pillow does not come with a trial period or a return policy, so you better be confident in your purchase when it comes time to buy.
Durable: Thanks to the premium materials used, this pillow just feels durable. It’s solid, which makes it a tad heavy, but at least you know it’ll hold up after years of restful sleep.
5-Year Warranty: This pillow comes with a 5-year warranty that’s almost unheard of among bedding products. The warranty includes free item repair or replacement––what could be better than that?

Shipping and Returns

Tempurpedic ships free to everywhere in the U.S., except for Hawaii and Alaska, where fees may apply. Shipped by UPS, you can expect your pillow to arrive within 5-7 business days after placing your order.

Unfortunately, because Tempurpedic considers pillows to be personal items, returns are not allowed.

Trial and Warranty

Tempurpedic does not offer a sleep trial, since they don’t allow for returns, but the warranty policy is pretty sweet. The Tempur-Cloud Cooling pillow comes with a 5-year limited warranty, which is a considerably longer warranty than is offered with most sleep products.

The warranty stipulates that they will repair or replace your pillow within 5 years of purchasing if there’s a physical flaw that causes the material to split, or if the structure deteriorates in a manner that doesn’t allow it to return to its original shape.

Final Breakdown

The Tempur-Cloud Cooling Pro Pillow is fit for many different sleep styles, as well as for hot sleepers, thanks to its medium-firm foam that offers support and plush comfort, along with its breathability and ultra-cool touch.

This pillow is for you if you like your head and neck to be cradled and well-supported, but if you prefer a firmer feel to your pillow, I’d suggest looking elsewhere. This is also a luxury pillow, so budget shoppers may be put off by the higher price tag. But if you can afford to shell out the extra cash, this is a phenomenally-built pillow that offers a premium and cool sleep experience.
