TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt Soft vs. Nectar

Feel
The TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt Soft is the ultimate premium plush mattress on the market. Its unmatched contouring abilities offer amazing pressure relief appreciated by both side sleepers and back sleepers.
The Nectar mattress is another 100% foam mattress that appeals to those looking for a cool, cushiony memory foam mattress. The difference is that you will feel like you are sleeping on the Nectar mattress, rather than sinking into the TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt mattress.
When it comes to supporting proper spine alignment and achieving pressure point relief, the softer TEMPUR mattress comes out on top. Yet, the Nectar mattress offers even better responsiveness, meaning that it adapts quickly to your movements. This makes the Nectar mattress a good choice for those who move around at night. And because the Nectar mattress is slightly firmer than the TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt Soft, it is a better choice for stomach sleepers.
Cooling Performance
Both the Nectar and TEMPUR mattresses offer relatively cool sleep for memory foam mattresses. Nectar (7.5/10 Mattress Advisor cooling score) sleeps slightly cooler since you won’t sink into the top layers as far as you do with the softer TEMPUR mattress.
Cost
Nectar is an affordable brand-name mattress, while the TEMPUR-LuxeAdapt Soft is one of the most advanced TEMPUR lines. As such, the Nectar mattress ($1,043 in queen-size) is a fraction of the cost of the TEMPUR mattress ($4,149).
Trial Period & Warranty
Nectar:
- 1 full year trial period. Free returns.
- Lifetime limited warranty.
TEMPUR-Pedic:
- 90-day trial period. Up to $175 fee for returns.
- 10-year limited warranty.

Feel
The TEMPUR-Cloud Medium Hybrid and Helix Midnight Luxe are both hybrid mattresses with medium firmness levels. These are great options for couples with different feel preferences since they aren’t too firm or too soft.
As one of Helix’s Luxe models, the Midnight features a premium quilted pillow top, an additional 2″ of foam, and zoned lumbar support. The zoned lumbar coils help create a near-perfect spinal alignment and edge support, making it an excellent choice for side and back sleepers. It also has a polyfoam transitional layer, which cradles the hips and shoulders.
The TEMPUR-Cloud Medium Hybrid starts with a comfort layer, using the new, responsive TEMUR® material. It adapts to your body’s shape, weight, and temperature to create a more personalized sleep experience. Next is a firmer support layer that delivers pressure-relieving benefits. The Helix Midnight Luxe also alleviates pressure through its gel-infused memory foam, which cushions major pressure points.
Cooling Performance
The Helix Midnight Luxe has an outstanding 9.5/10 cooling score in Mattress Advisor testing and is regularly featured as one of our best mattresses for hot sleepers. The standard mattress cover is made from breathable Tencel material. For an additional cost, you can substitute the standard Tencel cover for a GlacioTex Cooling Cover. The TEMPUR-Cloud Medium Hybrid comes with a breathable stretch cover to promote airflow.
Cost
A queen-size TEMPUR-Cloud Medium Hybrid is currently priced at $2,199. At $2,099, a queen-size Helix Midnight Luxe is slightly less expensive
Trial Period & Warranty
Helix:
- 100-night trial period. Free returns.
- 15-year limited warranty.
Tempur-Pedic:
- 90-night trial period. Free returns.
- 10-year limited warranty.

Feel
Like the TEMPUR-Probreeze, the DreamCloud is a medium-firm mattress that suits most types of sleepers and offers excellent support, without allowing you to sink too far in. Both mattresses have a hybrid construction that pairs layer upon layer of foam with innerspring coils, but the Probreeze also has an all-foam option with lots of high-density foam.
For people with back and joint pain, the DreamCloud is a winner—it scored highly in almost every category we tested in, including the all-important spine alignment and pressure relief. Based on our testing, back sleepers should feel no pressure whatsoever when resting on the bed, and side sleepers will only feel a small amount at the hips. This is not unlike the TEMPUR-Probreeze’s body-contouring memory foam support, which cradles your body without making you feel like you’re drowning in foam.
We recommend both mattresses to side sleepers, back sleepers, combination sleepers, and seniors or people with back and hip pain. Lightweight and average weight sleepers will do well with the DreamCloud or all-foam version of the TEMPUR-Probreeze. For heavier sleepers, we suggest you look at the TEMPUR-Probreeze Hybrid for even more durability.
Cooling Performance
The TEMPUR-Probreeze is designed for cooling, with a cool-to-the-touch cover and ventilated materials designed to absorb heat and allow for more airflow, so you feel three degrees cooler than average. The DreamCloud also has technology aimed at keeping you cool—we gave it an 8.5/10 in cooling, which is above average. The bed’s cooling cashmere cover and innerspring system should keep you from overheating in the night.
Cost
The TEMPUR-Probreeze comes in at $4,499 for a queen, while the DreamCloud costs significantly less at $1,199.
Trial Period & Warranty
DreamCloud Original:
- 365-night sleep trial period. Free returns.
- Lifetime warranty.
TEMPUR-Probreeze:
- 90-day sleep trial period. Up to $175 fee for returns.
- 10-year warranty.

Feel
The memory foam construction of the TEMPUR-Cloud not only makes it a great option as a bed-in-a-box, it offers excellent pressure-point relief. In fact, we scored it 9/10 for pressure relief in our mattress lab. The WinkBeds GravityLux, also a memory foam mattress, has an identical 9/10 pressure relief score. It also offers extra cushioning, making it a good option for the back sleeper or the person who prefers a soft sleeping experience.
Cooling Performance
As in the case of other memory foam mattresses, the TEMPUR-Cloud does not rank among the best for cooling, scoring a 6.5/10 in that category. In contrast, we found the GravityLux to offer a cooler sleep experience, scoring 8/10.
Cost
The GravityLux’s queen-size mattress offers a lower price point of $1,799 when compared to the TEMPUR-Cloud’s queen, which comes in at the upper end at $2,199.
Trial Period & Warranty
GravityLux
- 120-day sleep trial.
- Full replacement lifetime warranty.
TEMPUR-Cloud
- 90-night sleep trial.
- 10-year warranty.

Feel
The TEMPUR-Adapt and Puffy Lux Hybrid are both medium-firm luxury mattresses. These work great back sleepers and even stomach sleepers who normally prefer a Goldilocks feel. As a hybrid, the Puffy Lux has a foam feel and support of coils. The TEMPUR-Adapt’s all-foam construction gives it a cushioning feel.
Tempur-Pedic’s Adapt series uses unique layers of proprietary foam to relieve pressure and better support your body. Each mattress is constructed with careful attention to motion isolation so that you don’t wake up from your partner’s tossing and turning.
The Puffy Lux Hybrid uses gel-infused foam to create breathability and extreme comfort. A pressure-relieving cloud foam encourages total muscle recovery when you sleep. The Puffy Lux Hybrid also uses a support layer to prevent sinking while still maintaining its famous cloud-like feel. Both mattresses encourage a natural straight spine, which can be helpful for those with back or neck pain.
Cooling Performance
Both of these mattresses sleep cooler than average, making each a good choice for hot sleepers. The Puffy Lux Hybrid, which earns a respectable 8/10 Mattress Advisor cooling score, uses a Cooling Cloud layer to keep your mattress at an optimal temperature level throughout the night. Tempur-Pedic keeps their mattress cool using a cool-to-touch cover.
Cost
Of the two mattresses, the TEMPUR-Adapt is the more expensive option. This big-name mattress company’s queen-size bed starts at around $2,400, with a Puffy queen-size priced $200 less.
Trial Period & Warranty
Puffy:
- 101-night trial period. Free returns.
- Lifetime warranty.
Tempur-Pedic:
- 90-night trial period. Free returns.
- 10-year limited warranty.

Feel
The Purple mattress is unlike many of its competitors. Its upper layer is comprised of a proprietary grid-like material. When pressure is applied to it, it resists collapse up until a certain point. Once enough pressure is applied, it gives in and softens. The result is support along every curve of the body, with a bit of a responsive spring. When we tested the Purple mattress, it earned nearly a perfect score for its ability to keep the spine properly aligned.
The TEMPUR-ProAdapt Medium is an all memory foam mattress made using TEMPUR’s proprietary technology. It too offers incredible body alignment, relieving aches and pains.
Both the TEMPUR-ProAdapt and the Purple mattress are durable, comfortable mattresses with rave reviews. TEMPUR’s mattress yields slightly superior relief at pressure points and motion isolation, attributes important to those who sleep on their sides or have trouble sleeping through their partner’s moving. But the Purple mattress is faster to respond to movement and is a bit springier, a feel that many couples and combo sleepers prefer.
Cooling Performance
Both mattresses sleep relatively cool. The Purple earns an 8/10 cooling score in Mattress Advisor testing—better than some all-foam beds, but not as cool as the typical hybrid mattress. Purple’s grid system delivers slightly better air circulation than the TEMPUR-ProAdapt.
Cost
Budget shoppers, take note: The Purple mattress ($1,399 in queen-size) costs nearly $2,000 less than a queen-size TEMPUR-ProAdapt ($3,349).
Trial Period & Warranty
Purple:
- 100-day trial period. Free returns.
- 10-year limited warranty.
TEMPUR-Pedic:
- 90-day trial period. Up to $175 fee for returns.
- 10-year limited warranty.

Feel
Are you searching for a high-quality memory foam mattress that could last more than 10 years? The TEMPUR-Luxebreeze and the Saatva-made Loom & Leaf have materials and designs engineered for the long haul.
The TEMPUR-Luxebreeze has two firmness options: a soft option for a hug-like feel, and a firm option with more support. Depending on your sleeping position and size, you might want one option over the other. Regardless of which version you select, the mattress should be supportive and durable while providing great contouring and pain relief.
The Loom & Leaf’s high-density foam gives responsiveness and proper support for spinal alignment. Additionally, the gel-infused foam provides maximum comfort. This mattress also has two firmness options (relaxed firm and firm), so most sleepers should be able to find a version that best suits their weight and sleeping position.
While most sleepers should feel great on the Loom & Leaf, we don’t recommend it for couples. Instead, we suggest the TEMPUR-Luxebreeze, since it has great motion isolation.
Cooling Performance
With a 7.5/10 cooling score, the Loom & Leaf does sleep cooler than some memory foam mattresses. On the other hand, the TEMPUR-Luxebreeze is specifically designed for cooling.
Cost
The Loom & Leaf is great for budget-savvy shoppers ($2,099), costing a fraction of the TEMPUR-Luxebreeze mattress price ($5,399).
Trial Period & Warranty
Loom & Leaf:
- 365-night sleep trial period. $99 processing fee for returns.
- Lifetime warranty.
TEMPUR-Luxebreeze:
- 90-day sleep trial period. Up to $175 fee for returns.
- 10-year warranty.
TEMPUR-Pedic Mattresses vs Alternative Mattresses
TEMPUR-Pedic, the same brand that first brought us memory foam mattresses, has remained an industry leader for decades. With incredibly comfortable products, why would anyone want to opt for another memory foam bed?
- Savings: TEMPUR-Pedic is one of the most expensive luxury brands. Today, there are many alternatives that offer high-quality memory foam mattresses at a lower cost.
- Bounce and responsiveness: TEMPUR’s foam is incredible at supporting the spine and cushioning the body. However, it does not respond quickly to movement. It also is not a very springy foam. These attributes may deter those who move around at night or who like a bouncy and responsive mattress for sex.
- Trial and returns: Many online mattress retailers offer generous trial periods with free returns. With a 90-day trial period and a fee for returns of up to $175, TEMPUR’s policy is less generous than some other companies.

TEMPUR-Pedic Alternatives FAQs
Is a TEMPUR-Pedic mattress worth it?
TEMPUR-Pedic is a leading mattress brand with long-lasting and well-made beds. Their mattresses are known for providing outstanding comfort, pressure relief, and very little motion transfer. In addition, many customers love TEMPUR-Pedic mattresses because of their plush, luxurious feel. These factors combine to make TEMPUR-Pedic beds worth the investment for many customers.
That said, TEMPUR-Pedic beds are pricier than many leading bed-in-a-box memory foam and hybrid mattresses. They also charge for returns and only offer a 90-day sleep trial. So if you’re looking for a budget mattress or want a more generous trial period, TEMPUR-Pedic is probably not the best option for you. The Nectar mattress is an excellent alternative for budget-conscious sleepers looking for a high-quality memory foam mattress with a full-year trial period.
