The Saatva comes in two thickness profiles: 11.5” or 14.5”. The WinkBeds, however, only comes in one thickness: 14.5”. A thicker mattress is great for heavy sleepers and those who like extra support. If you weigh less than 230 pounds, you don’t need a thick mattress for comfort, and a thin bed is often easier to get in and out of.
Another difference between these two beds is that the WinkBeds doesn’t offer split king or split California king sizes. Split mattresses are an excellent option for couples who share the bed but are easily woken by movement.

Let’s dig into each layer of the Saatva and WinkBed mattresses. We will share not only what each layer is made from, but how this layer influences the mattress experience.
But first, we’ll start by comparing the Saatva and WinkBed construction. Because both mattresses are luxury beds, they follow a similar pattern in the sense that they both have several dense layers of foam and coils. WinkBed differs mainly it its variation across its different models; Saatva has the same construction no matter which firmness level you select.
WinkBed starts off with a Tencel cover, while Saatva has a quilted euro pillow top for its first layer. The Tencel is more breathable than Saatva’s plush pillow top, but the euro top is silky soft and offers a nice layer of cushioning. Another difference in their construction is in the coils; WinkBed utilizes pocketed-micro coils, while Saatva uses a dual-support coil system with a layer of individually-wrapped comfort coils and a foundation of steel coils for the base.
The good news is– you’ll get a supportive, but balanced feel with either of these mattresses. Both incorporate numerous comfort and support layers, and the materials speak for themselves when it comes to quality.
The WinkBeds mattress is a luxury hybrid mattress made using premium materials. There are four mattress options, including softer, luxury firm, firmer, and plus. The WinkBed plus is designed for sleepers who weigh more than 300 pounds.
The four Winkbeds models vary in construction to meet diverse customer needs. We will note where the construction differs below.
The Saatva hybrid innerspring mattress consists of 5 high-quality layers. By varying the composition of the pillow top, Saatva achieves 3 different firmness options: luxury plush, luxury firm, and firm. Another option for this customizable mattress is varying mattress heights. The loftier mattress (14.5”) has a thicker innerspring transition layer than the thinner (11.5”) mattress. Here’s a breakdown of each layer in the Saatva Classic.

Let’s dig deeper into the factors that really separate these mattresses from one another.
Responsiveness measures how well a mattress adapts to your movements. In this category, the WinkBed outperformed the Saatva with an impressive score of 9 out of 10. For combination sleepers especially, I’d go with the WinkBed for its ease of movement.
Although this is an overlooked factor, edge support is still important for measuring a bed’s ability to keep you in the middle of the mattress and maintain secure borders with little sagging. If you get dressed or tie your shoes at the edge of your bed, edge support helps you do so without sliding off.
The WinkBed blew us out of the water with this one; it earned a 9.75 out of 10! The Saatva’s edge support is still nothing to balk at, but WinkBed was the clear winner here.
Spine alignment is important for maintaining a neutral spine position, which can help mitigate back pain and promote a healthy posture.
This is a factor Saatva really shines in; it earned a 9.5 out of 10. The WinkBed wasn’t too shabby in this category either, coming in at an 8.75 out of 10. Both mattresses are great picks for back and stomach sleepers in need of lumbar support.
Both mattresses have pretty solid return policies; WinkBed allows you to exchange your mattress for a full refund during the trial period, and Saatva’s return policy also allows you to make a free return during their 120-night sleep trial.
Both the WinkBeds mattress and Saatva Classic are hybrid beds with multiple firmness options. Each is made using layers of foam and coils to create a sleeping experience great for any sleeping position and body shape. While these luxury mattresses have a lot in common, there are slight differences that make them stand out to different customers.
The Saatva Classic is an affordable hybrid mattress that appeals to people on a budget. It’s softest option is incredibly plush, making it ideal for lightweight side sleepers who need ample give. It excels at keeping the spine aligned, which is critical for sleepers with back pain.
The WinkBeds hybrid mattress comes with free returns and a lifetime warranty. If you’re someone who is nervous about buying a new mattress online, the WinkBed mattress may be a better fit. We also love the plus option for sleepers who weigh over 300 pounds.
When it comes to feel, the WinkBed is noticeably bouncier than the Saatva. For those who like a bouncy innerspring sensation, consider the Winkbed mattress. However, the incredible responsiveness does have its downside: motion transfer. The Saatva Classic performs better when motion isolation is involved. And with split king and California king options, the Saatva is a great fit for couples who share the bed.
