Inside WinkBed

Inside the WinkBed Mattress

  1. Tencel Cover: The mattress cover is made with a eucalyptus-based performance fabric that’s naturally moisture-wicking. WinkBeds says that their cover sleeps 30% cooler than linen and is softer than silk.
  2. Euro Pillow Top: The top layer is quilted with Hypersoft foam that is contouring and cooling.
  3. Comfort Layer: This gel foam layer is designed to minimize motion transfer from sleeping partners.
  4. Micro-Coils: These coils maximize airflow, which prevents hot air from pooling under your body.
  5. Lumbar-Support Pad: This extra dense cotton layer helps reduce tension by providing pressure relief and lower back support.
  6. Pocketed Coils: These tempered steel coils provide back support and localized pressure point relief.
  7. Extra-Edge Support System: This high-density perimeter of support foam improves durability and edge support.
New Nectar Layers

Inside the Nectar Mattress

  1. Poly-Blend Quilted Cover: A plush top layer designed for a soft, cushioning, cloud-like feel.
  2. Gel Memory Foam: This gel memory foam delivers equal weight distribution and pressure relief.
  3. Adaptive Hi-Core Memory Foam: An adaptive memory foam layer that supports the body and prevents too much sinking.
  4. Base Layer: The Nectar’s base layer serves as a stable foundation and provides additional support for the entire structure.
  5. Bottom Cover: This bottom cover prevents slippage on your frame or foundation to ensure the mattress stays in place.

Is the WinkBed or Nectar Mattress Best For You?

Looking at the overall scores of each mattress (which are nearly identical), we don’t believe you can go wrong with either choice. It’s still important to keep in mind that although both mattresses are high-quality, they’re ultimately built for different types of sleepers. It comes down to your sleep position, body type, budget, and overall preferences.

Sleeping Position

The four most common sleeping positions are back sleeping, side sleeping, combination sleeping, and stomach sleeping. It’s important to know yourself and how you like to sleep, because different mattresses vary in which sleeping positions they best support. For instance, side sleepers are going to want a mattress with better contouring and pressure relief, whereas stomach sleepers require a firmer and more supportive bed.

The Nectar is an excellent choice for side sleepers especially, thanks to its pressure-relieving properties. However, it should be firm enough so back sleepers are able to enjoy a nice balance of comfort and support.

The WinkBed comes in four different firmnesses: Softer, Luxury Firm, Firmer, and Plus. With this in mind, you should be able to find a firmness that best suits your needs.

Cooling/Temperature

Memory foam has a bad reputation for cooling ability, but recent innovations have improved performance. With a cooling score of 7.5/10 and gel-infused foam, Nectar happens to be one of them. The WinkBed’s hybrid construction does make cooling a bit easier, however. Its score of 8/10 is due to features such as the pocketed coils and the Euro-top, both of which allow for breathability and airflow.

While the WinkBed takes the trophy when it comes to cooling, the Nectar is likely going to be the better pick for couples. Despite the WinkBed’s impressive scores in cooling and durability, Nectar’s motion transfer score is two points higher (8.5/10). This is important for light sleepers who don’t want to be disturbed by their partner’s movements during the night.

Durability

Memory foam mattresses typically have a lifespan of seven to ten years, which is longer than the typically lifespan of an innerspring mattress (five to seven years). For that reason, we believe the Nectar is more durable than the WinkBed. Luckily, both mattresses come with a lifetime warranty.

Budget

When it comes to a full-size mattress, the value of the Nectar and WinkBed differ by a few dollars. For other dimensions, however, the WinkBed is the more expensive pick, costing about $100-$200 more than the Nectar, depending on the dimensions. Since hybrid mattresses are generally pricier than all-foam beds, this is to be expected.

Customer Service

Many people hold the quality of a brand’s customer service in the same regard as the mattress quality. With bed-in-box brands like WinkBeds and Nectar, a positive customer experience is paramount. Luckily, both of these brands not only have free shipping and returns, but also offer generous sleep trials and warranties. Nectar has a 365-day trial while WinkBeds has a 120-day trial, but each offers plenty of time to test out the mattresses. You can also expect lifetime warranties from both brands.
